Srilanka was next door to India, Indians had a strong terrorist group, the LTTE, on their side (which was created, trained, supported, and controlled by terrorist Indian agency RA&W), and a weak enemy (in the form of SL military). And yet Indians couldn't get many body-bags before running out of that theater with their wet tails stuck between their legs. Afghanistan is a totally different ballgame. Indians simply have no balls to even get there without American protection.

With all due factual points on Indian military,
India is a country where societies, communities, strong people take advantage of weak one's.
That said, they're always ready to blackmail in your community etc, same goes for military adventures. They have in all its history faught very little battles yet alone wars. Even in those wars with country Pakistan the India society aided with western assistance manipulated ground facts from fiction. You cannot change facts from fiction! Pakistan has faught along Afghanistan with 2 super powers & survived. India can't even hold its own in peace time.
It will be blunder now for India to send troops into Afghanistan no matter who's in power.

If anything, US airstrikes will make sure that Taliban will not show mercy to their adversaries anymore any political settlement will be out of the window. In essence, US intervention will cause more Afghan bloodshed than ever.
