AF-Pak One Confederation, Two Systems

Any merger of Pak with Afganistan will fail miserably and quickly. AfPak will be divided again in which Afganistan will take most of AfPak and Pak will be reduced to east of Indus.

Better to divide Afganistan into ethnic lines and take wakhan corridor.
The Pathan population of Afghanistan will agree with merger with Pakistan.
This should have been done a long time ago.

Pakistan already struggles enough with the tribal district due to it being so different to the rest of the country (including the rest of KPK) because of the very nature of it being a tribal society. I don't think it could cope with a different country being added onto it, especially one that is so different like Afghanistan.

Even at the basic level in terms of ethnic rivalries, they have a different sociological character in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Afghanistan has a very premodern idea of ethnicity - it is very different to a similar war torn place like the ex-Yugoslavia, which is something NATO did not realise when going in. For example, it would be rare to meet any Afghan who, whilst hate an opposing (or all other) ethnic groups, would not at the same time identify as a proud Afghani or one that would primarily identify through an ethno-national lens. Pakistan has a very postmodern idea of ethnicity, which is the dominant idea of ethnicity in the world - ethnic seperatism is a key component of the ethnic sectarian tapestry here whereas it isn't so much in Afghanistan.

There is no cure for people like you. People of Afganistan wants Pakistan to merge with Afganistan not the Afganistan merge with Pakistan.

Sure, unite both countries, and call it Pakistan. I'm perfectly fine with that.
Both Pakistanis and Afghanistanis can have an equal say in the new country in an Islamic democracy with faith in Islamic Socialism envisioned by the Quaid-i-Azam.

I have proposed a Confederation with both countries having their own laws. Sharia Laws in Afghanistan and our present Laws in Pakistan. The two peoples already have social interaction with each other based on the stay of Afghan Muhajirs in Pakistan. Their children now play cricket because of exposure in Pakistan.

With this strategy, Pakistan will gain an area equal to its own size and a market for its products and services.

.
what confederation ??? majority of them already have pakistani CNIC and passports so technically they are pakistani citizens and you know what is the irony ....few months back during Taliban take over of cities of Afghanistan they recovered pakistani CNICs of afghan military generals and those who were recovering were also having pakistani CNICs anybody could have it by paying few thousands to corrupts govt machinery
We should make legal what is a de-facto state of affairs. We will gain strength geographically, militarily and there will be an open market for our products and services.

Afghanistan is a war torn country, any conflict in that region affects us adversely. This needs to end

  1. Prevent any further conflict, civil war, infighting or them fighting with Pakistan. The Afghans know war only, but now it needs to end
  2. Afghanistan's territory is not used by any State or non state element for any nefarious purposes
  3. Strong diplomatic and trade ties with Afghanistan (no matter who is in power, Pakistan should become their most needed favorite country and nation
  4. We hosted refugees, that was past, now start looking to future, curb the negative propaganda, they are our neighbors and we didn't choose them
  5. Learn from past and do everything to prevent any opportunity or chance Afghans get to interfere in Pakistan
  6. Ask them to hand all Pakistanis back, TTP, BLA, BRA or whatever brand they are operating under
  7. No peace deal with Pakistani terrorists
  8. Solve border issue for once and permanently
  9. Let them be a sovereign nation and country and deal with their own affairs
If we are serious, we cannot have or never ever should have open borders with them. If people are so keen to visit their relatives, they can apply for a proper visa like people who have relatives in india and vice versa.

No, they didn't go through same as we did. Our ancestors were ruled by British and almost left us in the hands of hindu majority if not for few good men who woke up at the right time. Afghansitan on the other hand was puppet of British but not directly ruled, they gained independence from British in 1919. They never had to worry about hindutva rule post British.

Becoming one country with people who have no common history with you is stupidity. Your enemies are their friends and so on.

Afghanistan wanted Pakistan to remain as India and take KPK, FATA and Baluchistan. Not even in their wildest imagination did they expect it to be as it is now when it was just an idea in Jinnah's mind. The failed Hijrat movement when Afghans rejected Pakistanis in the 1920s is confirmation a merger with them is sociologically impossible.

.
Pakistan should merge with China instead. Islamabad will end up looking like Kabul

Ruling elite of Afghanistan aka pashtun kings were always in bed with India along with their stooges in Pakistan, bacha khanis. Looks like Taliban will be on similar path if they dont accept border. The cost of this folly should be disproportionately just like it has been for Afghanistan since last 40 years.

.
NO NO and NO........................... let them have their country.
Yes,yes, yes, full economic integration and full educated people integration. Two states, one system is a great idea, hopefully the Pakistani freeloaders will be kicked into competition or face disintegration from their illegitimatelly acquired wealth. Green passport for the Afghan educated class and open doors to all those who have economic enterprise valour and mission.

.
Oh please, Afghanistan is a mess of a country in last 50 years we dont want that mess in our country
