AERO INDIA 2009: India unveils plans for LCA 'Mark 2'

WE rocks in software Industry......

India is ahead in software services "exports". That's a very small and labour intensive area, where India concentrated. It is at the lower and lower-middle end of technological pyramid.

But speaking about technological advancement and R&D maturity in Software, China is ahead of India.
One reason for this is, their advantage of having mastered Semiconductor R&D.

Chinese software industry is concentrated at high and middle-end of this pyramid. This is so because they never focused on exports due to their national policy of keeping Western behemoths out from critical systems software space. So, from beginning they invested in Systems software space while India focused on export-oriented low-end labour intensive and semi-middle end software works.

Its logical actually. Once you master semiconductor hardware R&D, software is next logical step and since China has its home-grown micro-Chips, they easily started developing fully Integrated Systems Softwares from bottom to top, which India don't.

Obviously because India has no presence in high-end semiconductor R&D.

Its sad that Indian media don't cover China. People in India still think India is ahead of China, in software. That's not true.

Read Infosys ex-Chairman's interview in detail. He has talked about China's high-end domestic software market in detail and maturity of Chinese software companies.

Indians don't take things seriously. They merely follow narrow-minded rhetoric from Indian IT industry(who do this propaganda for brand building like every western industry does). That's the problem with India.

By the way, just google statements of CII and NASSCOM chiefs. They have admitted about China's superiority in high-end Software products segment.

Also, try to read some reports on Chinese software industry which is triple in size to that of whole Indian Software industry.

Don't keep yourself in denial. China is far ahead even in software. Their two-decade old presence in semiconductor, has given them a solid base in specialized high-end systems Software and CII(Indian industry body) has admitted it.

What you need to understand is that, technical maturity can't be gauged from "export volumes". This has been the case in software space. China is ahead in software systems R&D because they provided protection to their firms from Western behemoths and it helped them nurture a solid base.

Now you might ask, if China is so advanced in high-end software then why West doesn't import from China? Answer is simple - No western country will import any critical software from China or any other country, while they are ready to outsource non-critical labour intensive work to those willing to do it(India).

So, better India focus on R&D for domestic market and stop taking pride in outsourced garbage work.
