Advantages and disadvantages of knowing english for india?

I am trying to find disadvantages coz' its causing brain-washing in india....all the best talented indians go to the USA for getting job and dont contribute to indian economy unlike china where majority dont know english properly and they are growing fast coz' they have every manufacturing hub and dont rely on others....they have made themselves independent keeping in mind that they dont know english properly...

but india's advantage of knowing english is better trading among countries and set-up of more international solution companies in india...

but,all in all, disadvantages outweighs advantages according to me..whats your opinion??

A chinese person would think twice before going to USA coz' of improper english but indians would eagerly go to US..an indian would find it easy to mix with americans!!

chinese members- i'm not trying to say chinese know poor english, its just indians are more english speaking population....


should we impose a language in india which is truly ours?? and east,west,north and south parts of india wont hesitate to speak it like sanskrit?.....all north,south,east,west indians might accept sanskrit as a common language?

indians go to USA because there is better, educational oppurtunities, better living, better roads, better food, and more clean than India.. Just like Indians go to Islamic nations for a better life...

China has all of what USA has plus they are becoming a new superpower so they dont have to worry...

nope, not workers oly but middle class indians go to islamic nations like kuwait, saudi arabia, bahrain, qatar, yemen, libya, malaysia, indonesia etc

The problem is not just English, it is the whole system of India that still largely caters to western colonial powers. The advantage of English is obvious, it is the language of the colonial power which tried to enslave the entire world, hence being widely used worldwide. The disadvantage is the self-destruction of your own indigenous culture. Take a look at the Americas (not US or Canada), are they the same people they once were before the western powers invaded? Once you lose your language, you lose your identity.

then might be as engineers in these countries, but in UAE, mostly workers go from pak and ind.....

The OP specifically asked whats the advantages and disadvantages of knowing English. And this question is not limited to Indians only. I think this is relevant to Pakistanis and Bangladeshis too.

disad far outweigh advantage , if english comes to a stage in turkey where everyone knows english it i will get so angry and wouldnt speak it even if i know because then i will feel like iam colony but good in turkey not too much know english and want to know it , we rather promote our language in 7 turkic nations than english , and hundres of schools worldwide who teaches and the become elite , and a new project where turkic nations will all have same learning and alphabet which is being worked on and based on turkey turkic , so in the future we can see Turkish , English , french , chinese , spanish , portugese , arabic widespread and russia will go down because ex soviet nations in like 10 years are not learning it anymore.

but it is the only lang which cnnects all the major languages from north to south and east to west and we wont have to rely on english which will make our own identity stronger and improve our internal economy!! and even help us feel independent,not colonial sh!t...

Regarding English Language : Well non-English speakers just learn English as a mere 'tool' for international communication , internet etc ... People do need to think English as come 'status symbol' (Like people in our regions do) .... No disrespect , But I don't even find English language that special.... Specially English poetry is wayyyy underpowered infront of Urdu poetry..but yes , English has some solid expressive power! Every language is special in its own way..but people in our regions think "English" as some sort of 'better than all' language....

We must come out of colonial mindset now...

is KSA a declared islamic state?? if yes, then provide sources......

Are you damn kidding me man. KSA has Kalma on thier flag, all of their populatin and kings are Muslims...
