Pinaka is the ultimate weapon of lord shiva which can end the universe with time. In Mahabharata, Nivat Kavach rakshas had a blessing of lord brahma that they will live till the end of universe. So they were unbeatable. Arjun went there to destroy them on request of Indra. He used Pashupat astra to end the Nivat kavach.

Care to explain how on earth did i become a zealot??Plus i knew that Pinaka was Lord Shiva's bow,i just overlooked that part by mistake or else i would have corrected him.I just read the part where he called Lord Shiva as Pinaki and hencew i said that his other name is Pinakpani.
