How those states treat Pakistani expats doesn't define our friendship or enmity. It is defined by how the US or KSA conduct their power projection in Pakistan as a state entity against us as a state entity.

Last time i read it wasn't Saudis who killed 3000 of our countrymen in drone strikes, it wasn't saudis who installed Zia,killed bhutto,it wasn't saudis who sanctioned us 3 times, it wasn't saudis who bailed on us during both 65 and 71 wars,regardless of the defense pacts we had. It wasn't the saudis who wanted to bomb us back to the stone age, it wasn't the saudis who brought NRO,Rymond Davis wasn't a saudi citizen,Dr Afia wasn't extradited to KSA,its not Saudis who bully us diplomatically on daily basis, Blackwater didn't originate in Riyadh,it wasn't saudis who wanted to stop us from testing our nuclear weapons,it wasn't saudis who signed the civil nuclear transfer of technology deal with India and pulled a finger in our face.


Saudis have their ills,they do treat our citizens like crap there is no doubt about that. But does that mean that Saudi arabia is our enemy?--- i don't buy that.

But the US of A, your 'staunch enemy Number 1' has just today released $2 billion for beefing up your conventional defence capabilities. What has KSA given you? And needless to say, Pakistan's be-all and end-all is taking steroids in the form of weapons and equipment. Nothing else really matters in the world! After all, you're trying your darnedest to play catch-up with a far superior India having 7 times your defence budget! Never mind even if that largesse of fancy gizmos comes from your sworn enemy- The US of A (which you shamelessly accept!)

That is a great point.

USA befriends the people but screws over the State of Pakistan.
Saudi Arabia screws over the people but befriends the State of Pakistan.

Therefore, it is logical that individually the people would prefer USA but the State would prefer Saudi Arabia.

It is all about foreign policy.

Pakistani's are so enamored by their religion that they see Arabs as the ultimate people who should be emulated. It changes nothing on the street. The average Pakistani will still have a fetish for Arabs till the end of his time.

Tarek Fatah correctly identified this as another aspect of the "dysfunctional" state.

Any secular democracy that gives them full religious and citizenship rights will get hatred in return.

Any state that doesn't do that (Arabs and any Muslim state for that matter) and China etc., get adored.

Turkey is havily pro Pakistan and is deeply popular in Pakistan,especially after the Erdogan came along and our realtions got stronger. He is the only world leader whom i assume to be pro Pakistan on a personal level.

To tell the truth Turkeye & China are the only countries which are popular all over Pakistan, all political parties & all ethnic Pakistanis have same view on both countries i.e favorable.

@Topic Pakistanis in US love US but at the same time they hope that US treats Pakistan as an ally instead of a client(use & dump) state. IMO US should open its market for Pakistani goods, more trade with Pakistan will help both US & Pakistan...so instead of aid trade is the answere.
