Well, I know your kinds. Always finding somethings to say bad. Not only you but also any anti-communism groups or the so called "human rights" groups jump right in if the police had subdued the woman on the spot. They would take the photo, photoshop out the knife and slap some lines like "Vietcong police attacks unarmed woman" and bam, they would then direct the blame towards the govts and VN itself. It means you are weak, you suck, your policemen cannot protect your people, maintain the order of the public, while they are receiving the payments from your government but doing nothing useful, just stand there like an idiot. Her action has already caused trouble to the public. If I were the taxpayer, I would sue him for not doing anything.
VNese laws have a flaw about police shooting citizens. Acording to it, he must first fire 2 warning shots before shooting down the citizens. However, shooting in the middle of the street is dangerous, because there was case when the warning shot actually killed the bystander (the poor victim poked out his head over the balcony while the police chasing an armed robber). So the police have gun but rarely pull it out themselves, sometimes even letting the other guys do that for them. Recently there was a case when a drunkard actually pull out an officer gun from his waist (luckily not loaded) and point it at the police man. Quite hillarious. If she did something illegal, she shouldn't dare raise a knife at an officer of the law. Luckily for her she wasn't shot dead.

But not without any warning at all. The photo can only capture a single moment, not the whole story. And we all know easy it is to manipulate a story. For example:I respect the Vietnamese police officer for holding his ground like that without reacting. In the United States, if a citizen approaches a police officer with a knife, the police has every right to take down any threat even by lethal force. The same also holds true in Japan. If a police officer tells you to stop, and if one doesn't and continues to walk towards the police, the police can take you down in name of self defense.
If a woman armed with a knife did that in Japan to a police officer, definitely she would have been shot dead.
hey , how is life treating you in your viet ? Have you asked for a raise recently? have you rice to eat ?
