Aasiya annoyed at Bollywood?s Kashmir dream | SANA | Kashmir | SOUTH ASIAN NEWS AGANCY | niche
SRINAGAR (SANA): A day after the state government asked Bollywood to project Kashmir as a safe destination by shooting films in the Valley, the chairperson of Dukhtaran-e-Millat, Syeda Aasiya Andrabi has termed it as an attempt to dilute the longstanding Kashmir dispute.

Aasiya said she would soon launch a campaign against the move. “New Delhi is frustrated by commitment of Kashmiris to fight for their right of self-determination. Through their stooges, New Delhi wants to dilute the Kashmir dispute by facilitating shooting of films to project Valley of wails as a safe destination,” Aasiya told Greater Kashmir.

She said situation in Kashmir was similar to early ‘90s. “Indian troops are still killing and harassing Kashmiris for demanding their birth right. How can we allow the Bollywood stars to dance on the graves of our youth? We won’t allow anybody to overshadow the sacrifices of Kashmiris. I will launch Valley wide campaign against any such move and will also seek response from Ulemas on this serious issue,” she said.

Without naming any government official, Aasiya said, “By promoting obscenity through shooting of films and organizing entertainment programs, some bureaucrats want to malign Kashmir’s rich culture which is driven by Islamic values.”

Referring to the past year’s row when the government had invited a woman running beauty parlors and Spas for counseling girls, Aasiya said, “Some unscrupulous officials didn’t even feel ashamed to help her motivate Kashmiri girls to move outside the Valley. Now they are again resorting to same tactics for getting rewards and promotions,” she said.

Aasiya dismissed government’s claims that shooting of films would create employment avenues. “It will only promote obscenity and waywardness. If government is really interested to tackle unemployment, let it open industries,” she said.

Aasiya last month had served a legal notice to Rahul Dholakia, director of the much-hyped film on Kashmir, Lamhaa, for allegedly portraying her character through Bollywood actress, Bipasha Basu.

The film starring leading Bollywood actors, Sanjay Dutt, Bipasha Basu, Anupam Kher and Kunal Kapoor has been directed by the Rahul Dholakia of critically acclaimed ‘Parzania’ which depicted the Gujarat riots in 2002. The film had earned Dholakia a prestigious National Film Award. The film unit was forced to pack up from Valley following frequent crowd trouble and controversies.

This is BS, Bollywood can do a lot to bring in Business to Kashmir, and those against it are against the people earning a decent Living.

About Boycotts, tell that to the Poor Guys who sell Pirated DVDs and CDs of Indian Movies in pakistan, Think of them, Think of their families, Find them another profession (other than stealing- yes piracy is stealing, but I feel In Pakistan its Okay, Because there is no other way the people can watch bollywood, other than some bhatts movies etc).
