| No body is saying to remove the army from the entire valley. The demand is to remove the army where they have minimum or no responsibility at all.

| This is a popular argument that removal of army will lead to safe passage for insurgents. We often forget that before the imposition of AFSPA the army conducted countless number of insurgency ops in the valley. The army can be made available on emergency basis in case any serious issue happens.

| As you said,Kashmir is an integral part of Indian union,it means they are part of Indian democracy too. If they have objections on heavy military or paramilitary presence outside their home that means it had to be dealt with in a democratic way. AFSPA is a long debated issue not just in J & K but in NE also. So, demand for a decent discussion or something under democratic manner should not have raised any objection at all.
It's beyond doubt that Kashmir is an intergral part of India but, but one also needs to understand the special problems facing Kashmir and that it is no ordinary state.
Democracy does not come in to play if there is no national security.
Long gone are those days when Mr. Bhushan was an activist, he is a politician and needs to act like a responsible one, if he does not have problem in being garlended, he should not make a fuss of taking the stick ones in a while for making irresponsible statements.

The people responsible for the violent protest need to be arrested and due action needs to be taken.

.
see extremist has no religion , no difference in jamat and ranbirsena, ram sena, hindu parishad, etc
they never protest in democratic way ,always act violently or aggressively

Asking for removing army from where they have no responsibility at all does not mean compromising with national security. What needs to be discussed is "whether a state run well trained force can replace the army or not." There is no objection in keeping army in tensed districts while it is quite unnecessary to keep bulk of the forces in comparatively peaceful districts,as for the time being which could be moved to guard the LoC. If at all asking to remove afspa means compromising with national security Mr.Chidambaram would not have raised concern over it in the past.

Instead of stone pelting, naarebaazi and all those dramebaazi, they should have caught that Bhushan guy and should have thrashed him black and blue so that, Bhushan would remember before doing absurd lip service about issues like Kashmir referendum !

.
When you say things like "referendum should be carried out in Kashmir " ; you are asking for trouble. No nationalistic Indian will tolerate this. Enough of your activism.

so you are asking "nationalistic Indians" to attack policies of a party with Bricks and stones in a country which gives freedom of speech and opinions ... !!

Interesting

Agreed! When you move the army in to a state especially like J&K you cannot be selective, unguarded areas are the easy targets to terrorist. One cannot prevent a terrorist attack after it has happened, the army being there in the state is proof enough that the center lacks the confidence on the local police. As far as Mr. Chidambaram's doubts on AFSPA. Go I would trust the army's take on it.

Can I post a video where ink was thrown on Kejriwal?

by whom ..? Same paid hooligans who doesn't care about neither Kashmir nor the rest of the country... They don't even have idea what's the problem about Kashmir...

| Well, there is the catch. Delhi is a heavily fortified place with a constant threat of militant attack. So is Mumbai. Do you propose afspa to be imposed in these two places?

| Secondly, when parliament attack happened,it did not required afspa for the army to intervene in the matter. The degree of emergency automatically implied the necessity of an army action. I do not see any reason why J & K being an ordinary state of this country (where militant attacks and human casualties are not higher than Delhi as per records) this solution could not be applied.

If it is part of india why should there be any referendum ? Why ask for referendum if you dont have doubts that Kashmir is part of India ?

he was saying about referendum to decide whether or not the Army should be deployed to deal with internal threats in Kashmir ... that doesn't imply he was saying "Kashmir is not integral part of India" ....

I hardly doubt anybody had read his full statement. Nobody cared to understand that this man was not asking for a plebiscite.

We listen to only 'half' , understand 'quarter' and jerk off 'thrice' ... that's the problem, isn't it ...? :hitwall:

Yes,this can be done to replace the army,at least from some civilian areas where militancy is not a problem. A better equipped, better trained or battle soaked state run force could have been inducted slowly, step by step in place of IA. Hope we understand that there is a psychological blockade we need to deal with.Unwanted jingoism or the unnecessary demand of an iron fist can result us losing this game.By the way,why I am writing this? We,Indians were and never will do good in psychological proactive games. Fighting bloodless battle were never been a part of our historical curriculum.

Back in 2010, and 2009, when the Naxalite insurgency was hitting a peak of activity after decades, Many Indian commenters on the internet were calling for air strikes.

You have to realise that the victims of this air strike would be the Adivasis, who live under conditions worse than a lot of African Nations. How callous were those commenters? They did not care one iota about the tribals but were all too eager to jump into collectivist punishment.

@scorpionx I have been impressed so far by your posts, in terms of intellectual authenticity and content. You are also incredibly polite, which is a rare commodity these days.

Armchair generals  What amazed me that many people didn't even have any idea what they were defending on this thread. It's a dangerous trend when falsified national pride and jingoism eat up your reasoning ability and inner conscience.
