A young Pakistani woman reveals her country's love affair with Bollywood

It is great that now it is clearly happening that Pakistanis are moving away from indian content and my indian friends in USA used to get in a state of shock and disbelief whenever I told them I don't watch indian movies...none in my extended family or friends circle is a fan either (they don't watch indian movies..may be a few of them might have watched once or twice in their lives but that's it. I haven't watch a single complete indian movie though I can't deny about watching a few clips shared by my friends on social media, however that is not case with indian singers/music, I have listened to some of them and they were good). I used to tell them that if you are talking about any indian movie or actor...I may not be able to participate in the conversation since I neither have knowledge nor interest..and their reaction used to really incredible hilarious for me.

But now it is pretty evident people of Pakistan want to watch non-indian stuff. Our values are cultures are entirely different.
In pre-partition india on train stations, Hindu and Muslim water used to sold. They worship cow and we eat it. Our national language Urdu and it has more Arabic, Turkish and Persian words than Hindi, our names are different, our values and culture are different. We can live only separately but we wish to live peacefully, however, our wish has always been seen as sign of weakness and always got disrespected whether it was 1971 or recent wave of RAW sponsored terrorism and their overt opposition of CPEC and Pakistan's economic survival are evidences of their intrinsic hatred of Pakistan and Islam.
What do you say guys @Doordie @Mentee @tps77 @SherDil @Djinn

Exactly, bollywood isn't as popular as it used to be. I remember few of my family members used to watch Indian flicks and those ever lame Saas Bahoo soaps, but that was like a decade back and none of them even bother with that crap anymore. Indian soaps got replaced by Turkish and Iranian soaps, not to mention they could never compete with Pakistani drama's and that is something which Bharteez acknowledge too. I feel that with Pakistani film industry gradually rising, Bollywood is going to get more unpopular here.
As for the topic, if this girly thinks she speaks on behalf of millions of Pakistani's then let's not even care to refute her self concocted claims . She probably belongs to that "class" which enjoys cheap and vulgar language plus humor. :girl_wacko:
And to answer our Indian friends not so logical point: The ban was lifted entirely because of the decision unilaterally made by our PM, It's not that the Pakistani's voted or something, heck they didn't even vote in that PM's favor, but that's how things roll here. :jester:

I agree, Pakistanis seem to be hooked on Pakistani dramas. Hum TV seems to be doing well here in UK. Many of my relatives watch never ending dramas aired on the channel. Don't know any that watch Bollywood films. I remember how 20 years ago top Bollywood stars would attend UK to perform concerts and many South Asian grocery stores would advertise the event and even sell tickets. Now nothing, Bollywood was a big hit with Pakistanis back in the 1990s now it's hardly mentioned.

Now you are just being rude and unnecessarily personal bhaijan.

That is indeed me. Unlike you I do not put a film star as my DP. Or is that mucchad you?

@Margarita

Mam I am sorry for our past runins. You are my Indian bahan. Aap inse mooh na lago uselessly. Maze le rahe hain. Mai inko sambhalta hun ...

Mate I hate doing this but I'd advise you to watch zakir naiks speeches on this issue :)

though Islam apko mana nahe karta Salam karne se. BUT being a muslim kisi dosre muslim kay salam ka jawab dena mujh par farz hay. Ye us ka haq hay mujh pe kay jab wo mujhy salaam kary to me jawab du. tuhfa day to qabool karu. dawat pe bulaye to accept karu. baaki me bhool gya.

Margrita ka mujh par aesa koi haq nahe. which mean's kay ab ye mere marzi. though i was wrong about calling it haram. :-)

Point is bollywood is trash. I never watch bollywood.

chal jhoothay.. :P

I am the first one to say Indians and Pakistanis don't look one. I can recognize a Pakistani from a mile. By the way, I was talking of language and cultural similarities and not genetic similarities.
India has no one culture . Malyalam, tamil, Telgue, Kannada , gujrati and benagli film industry is also Indian but no Pakistani watch them..

Mostly Pakistani watch Punjabi or Hindi/Urdu stuffs because they understand it and Pakistani watching bolly dont prove that it produce quality contents ..Its just insecure indians satisfy their ego by finding and posting such useless articles written by girls with plenty of free time

I can post dozen such articles written by Indian women in praising and appreciating Pakistani Drama so what it would prove?

@Proudpakistaniguy PAkistanis actually don't know much apart from some hindi film artists for which they watch certain films, hehehe there is this bhojpuri cinema which would even put Anjuman-Sultan Rahi PAkistani movies as work of art. check out their tribute to the soldiers, in a stupid hilarious & sick anti-Pakistan item songs,

Pakistan ke khun se rofl

They look jokers and cartoons more than artists
