This is human tragedy indeed and on multiple levels.

However I beg to differ when you accuse "both" sides.

The only culprit in this affair is a the dictator Asad and his goons. He had and still has all the options available.

He can behave like Mubarak, or Qaddafi it is his choice.

Syrian people are clamoring to have a voice in their own affairs., Yeah some of them have picked up AK-47 but majority of them are peace loving and peaceful protestors.

However this black faced Asad is treating all his opponents aka Syrian people as Muj and Talib and Alqaida.

This is far from the truth.

Time for Asad to go.

Defending Asad the snake by accusing Saudis or Americans or Turks is just a cop out (to say the least). Asad and his whole regime is the relic of cold war era, where Arabs allowed petty despots to rule their @rses. Well that time is gone. Arab Spring has totally annihilated most of them. Maybe you weren't around when the protests started.

Once upon a time Syrians protested, they watched their brotherly countries people in Libya, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Yemen and Jordan taking to the streets demanding an end to oppression. They saw them and said "We want these things too, we want to also be free". Then Assad decided to shut them up and begun arresting them en mass, He begun to kill people who refuse to stay silent. He begun to arrest and kill the old and young, the man and woman.

People simply refused to stay silent and be treated like dogs and said "NEVER AGAIN" "Never again shall we stay silent and get killed by those who oppress by using sorry excuses like Resistance and anti-Americanism", so they got killed some more just for holding a sign.

And then a time came when enough was enough. A time came when they said to hell with what government does it is no longer our government it is nothing to an invader to us, so they grabbed what they could and they shot BACK, they fought BACK. They refused to be murdered and to watch their family and loved once murdered just because they wanted a decent life. So they fought BACK. A "Peaceful" uprising can only go so long against a disproportional oppression.

I don't care if the US is happy. I don't care if Israel is happy. I don't care what anyone thinks anymore. All I care about is that murderous Assad hanged by his feet him and everyone who supports his massacres hanging next to him.

I had a friend named Ra'ed. I have known him even before the revolution started. I met him in an Arab gaming forum. We used to talk about games we would like to play mods we would like to play our games with. He was an adamant FSA supporter and gaming understandably became a low priority to him, he would talk about finally living in dignity and in a civilized world with that murderer Assad gone, he switched from a gaming forum to a defense forum and would post about FSA regularly there in support to their noble cause.
That until one day he stopped coming online. One day he just didn't log in on MSN or in Facebook like he usually did. I later knew that he was executed by regime forces simply for supporting FSA online. He died with his hands tied behind his back with a shot on the back of his head. He died in a massacre along with his brother and a few of his cousins as well who were rounded up and executed by your friend's Assad's goons.

So Irfan with all due respect don't EVER and I mean EVER tell me that FSA are the terrorists and Assad is the angel in this. Because to me you sound like someone who also pulled the trigger on my friend's head no different than the soldier who did it when you do.
