but this is comparing apples to oranges1. Are the global elite tribal? do the Clintons, Kennedy's, Sharif's etc have any loyalty to their nations?
2. The afghans are the most free ppl in the world perhaps., far more free than us.
3. Since there will always be a ruling elite, distinct from everyone else, nationhood is basically becoming a vassal to another tribe.
Feel free to refute, but globally there most certainly is an elite who have no loyalty to any nation and they dictate their own countries.
Those two things are not really mutually exclusive. It's like saying my goal is to be rich, which means I can't be a nationalist, my goal in life is to be X, so I can't be a nationalist.
While some or most people just don't care enough for nationalism, they'll rather just focus on getting by in everyday personal life and not think much of it.
The elites you mention may have loyalty to something greater than their country or exclusively to money/power. Or perhaps nationalism doesn't cross their minds at all, just personal desires.
You haven't presented any ideology that is opposing to nationalism which you feel is greater.
