The percentage of Japanese who do not feel friendly toward China has reached a record high of 83.2 percent, a government survey showed Saturday, amid China’s assertive moves in the East and South China seas.

Despite a recent thaw in bilateral relations between Japan and China, the result marked a slight deterioration in sentiment. In the previous survey in 2014, the percentage stood at 83.1 percent, the highest since the government began taking a survey of the kind in 1978.

The Cabinet Office said 14.8 percent said they feel friendly toward China, unchanged from 2014.

Public sentiment toward South Korea improved, however, with 33.0 percent of those polled saying they feel friendly, up 1.5 percentage points.

A total of 64.7 percent said they do not feel friendly toward the Asian neighbor, down 1.7 points.

The poll came after Japan and South Korea agreed in December to resolve the long-standing issue of “comfort women,” or women forced to work in Japan’s wartime brothels, by creating a new fund.

Improving soured ties with China and South Korea has been one of the major challenges for Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

Tokyo and Beijing remain at odds over the sovereignty of the Senkaku Islands in the East China Sea that are controlled by Japan but claimed by China.

“The public has yet to understand the Japanese government’s efforts to improve ties,” said Yasushi Kudo, president of the Genron NPO, a private think tank.

China’s massive reclamation work in the South China Sea has also raised concern among countries in the region and beyond.

When asked about the current status of Japan-China relations, a total of 9.5 percent said they are either “good” or “somewhat good.” That compares with a total of 85.7 percent that responded bilateral relations are not good.

A total 84.4 percent of those polled said they feel friendly toward the United States, Japan’s key security ally, marking a 1.8 point improvement from the previous survey.

The percentage of Japanese people viewing the United States favorably has stayed above 80 percent since “Operation Tomodachi,” the relief effort launched by the U.S. military in response to the 2011 earthquake and tsunami.

As for Russia, 17.4 percent said they feel friendly, down 2.7 points, while 79.3 percent responded they do not, an increase of 2.9 points.

The Jan. 7 to Jan. 17 survey was conducted through in-person interviews, covering 3,000 adults, with 60.0 percent responding.

China Is Now the Top Source of Foreign Tourists to Japan - China Real Time Report - WSJ

Japan to hire 5,000 Filipino domestic helpers, salary starts at Php65,000/mo - The Maharlikan

I'm not really concern over how Japanese view China or how Chinese view Japan, this is expected with geo-political difference between two nations, nationalism is a big factor on how one view each other.

China should keep focusing on the "peaceful rising" strategy , already last for over 30 years and should go on regardless if anti-China sentiment is on the rise or not. We do what must be done to regain our glory and our place on earth and you will witness again the glory as once held by Tang's empire which our neighbors come to cheer us up and hold a very favorite view of China.

Man that post alone is why people hate you people
Is facts need to be hated? You are running away from reality. My previous post is backed by report and statistic. I just state facts. You can continue to be an ostrich or frog in the well.

If you hate facts, do some meaningful thing like upgade your economy with more meaningful partner like China instead of bickering over useless thing that never help most Filippino. Then you need not send your daughter to be maid in other countries.

Is better than you who cant provided any data or facts beside useless personal emotional rant.
If other country don't care how much Chinese hate their country, why should we care how much of their people hate China? it is mutual, and I think they should know that, China have more than 1.4 billion population, China government should make Chinese happy first, as to foreigner's attitude, especially when they want harming Chinese interest, should be neglected:-)

Japan struggles to fight against Chinese dominance in East Asia. They succeeded in 1895. However in just 100 years, China recovered the dominance. 胡虏无百年之运。 Foreigners will never have the luck beyond 100 years. China had this kind of confidence as early as Sui Dynasty. Whether British, Japan, United States, China has the confidence to win over them. It may take 100 years, but Chinese civilization can last forever.

Japan should clearly see its fate from Huns, Turks, Qidan, Mongolian,Manchu. Either be part of China or accept the doomed fate.

Manchu knew this well. To be part of China, they even sacrificed their languages.

If United States continues to behave like the current way to pursue hegemony at any cost, China, the middle Empire will have a chance to become the center of this planet. China is one the main continent EuroAsia continent and facing the main ocean Pacific ocean. This geography will China a big advantage.

With US help, Chinese relations with EuroAsia continental major powers are at its best in history. Almost all the alliance to contain China is from the edge of EuroAsia continental such as Japan, Australia, Philippines and Vietnam. If China can take the chance to connect the EuroAsia continental constructively through one belt one road program, then next step China can connect pacific countries constructively, then China will be the center of this planet.
