A question to my fellow Bangladeshis

These are interesting threads and replies for me considering India, Pakistan, Bangladesh were under one ruler...once upon a time.

They are not in any confusion about their Indian nationality and they are not interested to join an artificially created new nationality! :D

Btw, are you in India or in erstwhile India, (i.e. Bangladesh) now? :D

Hi
I hope you heard the news about 13 year old boy that was killed brutally few days ago.
It's a hot topic on Facebook.it happened in Sylhet.
I am noticing something disturbing in the comments section.People from other districts seems to have overwhelming hatred towards sylheti people, that made me sick.
I am curious to know why people are so mad at us?I don't find a clue.
They are calling us all kind of bad stuff under the fking sun and that's not cool. :frown:
They look so braindead,c'mon there's good and bad people everywhere, they are judging the entire population for the act of few demons?I bet hundreds of similar incidents happening all over the country.

I first head about the word sylhoti from a mainland bangladeshi... something like 'never trust a sylhoti, they are like snakes'.

A criminal is a criminal and should be called criminal, would you call the criminal dakhaiya if it had happened in Dhaka? No.neither we would bother finding out where he's from.
There is something else.

That's racist.
Heck we don't even bother them who works here or came to study.

For Quick bulk money, NRB sylhoty people hardly cares for respect ,humanity. In the end, you will keep shut my mouth by reminding I live by your foreign remittance. We do even accept the Guy was Bangladeshi, like we do need to change ourselves too.

But ofcourse, criminals are criminal. You cant shut peoples mouth who will tell anything about being sylhety. In the end, humanity sense will have to be more improved. You should agree with it.

How idiotic that people are trying to turn this incident into an anti-Sylheti one. This sort of thing hardly ever happens in Sylhet, which is why it is such big news.

Also the guys were caught by LOCALS when they tried to hide the body - funny how people miss that!

P.s. @hinduguy no-one can look down on Sylhetis.

Yes we are slightly apart from the rest of BD, we have an independent economy based on agriculture, tea, gas, remittances and tourism. We are also quite conservative and like to keep to our own, which can make others resentful sometimes - but sorry, that is their problem not ours.

Negative attitude towards Sylheti is not even a fraction of what have to endure by the people of Noakhali district. In entire Bangladesh, they are known as cunning, deceitful, selfish, greedy and what not.So in other district they try to hide thier Noakhali origin and are ashaimed.

Last year 7 college student was beaten to death in Gabtoli and none of them were Sylheti.

People are jealous of Sylheti welll being. Its actually Sylhetis who look down at non Sylhetis not the other way around.

Somedays back UK Sylheti origin full family went to Syria to join ISIS.
Now Sylheti Saudi cab driver beaten to death a local Sylheti 13 year thief.

So are the migrant people long staying abroad coming back home with desert warfare mindset? Should we be concerned regarding our national security?

Of course I agree that criminals should be punished and we need to civilize ourselves a bit more.
NRB sylhety what?that's the problem with you guys, too quick to judge and label everyone.
We could be careless (should be) of their opinion, not like its affecting us anyway.
I am not trying to shut them up nor I have the power to do so,I am just curious to find out the source of hatred.
Our contribution to the economy ain't little, beside remittance we contribute tea, gas, cement, agriculture and many more, plus probably a half of Sylhet city's population is non-sylhetis,didn't we let them work and make a living here?

It is a well known fact that people of Sylhet and Noakhali, along with the people of Barishal and Chittagong are discriminated and looked down upon by the Bangladeshis, :( they should demand separation from Bangladesh and create their own separate independent countries on the basis of the same principles that created Bangladesh! :yes4:

These are the people who dumped Indian script and adopted latin derived script right? Now citing Bande Mataram..

Though I didn't fully understand exactly what you are talking about, but India is a tolerant country and we respect diversity, but still we are more united than many other countries, just check the Indians on pdf for example! :)

I wouldn't call that discrimination,just a sick mentality.
Of course no body dares to say shit in front, just whispering in the back and shouting on social media.
Maybe they hate us because we are richer(*),we don't marry non-sylhetis(*) or we are bit proud of ourselves(*).

* = there are exceptions.

Well I don't see anything wrong there,we keep our shits to ourselves.

BTW,I hope I am not giving wrong ideas.I am not anti-bangladeshi.
Its just I am annoyed of being called names for no apparent reason.

No, I don't hate you. I just don't understand your language.

My humble appalogy to all that this happened in my birth place. I beg Allah to forgive us for this in humane barbaric act. May this little boy find peace among his creator, Allah. No insaniyat left. BD as nation may destroy by the wrath of Allah. I'm happy that scumbag has been captured in Saudi Arab. I would like to see this harami get punish according to sharia law in SA. I'm afraid he may set free in corrupted BD where money can buy anything.

Haramzada ibleeser aulad. Oi kutta re sar kalam kaira marle khushi oitam. Lanati bastard. :sniper:

There is no hatred present so one would be able to illuminate you on the point of your query.

You are viewing thing with the prism of being a syhleti in UK where there are a lot of you guys. But from a BD perspective syhlet is merely one district. Its significance is the same as other districts no more and no less. Nothing in BD is done as per district and neither do your av Bangladeshi defines themselves by their district.

You say syhleties let other people come and work in syhlet..... There has never been any such prohibition any where in BD.... Ppl live and work where and as they please.

I would postulate the source of your question lies in the fact that overly sensitive to the fact you are from sylhet. In BD being Bangladeshi is the primary identity not the region where you are from.

That was priceless !!!

Bangladeshis are one of the most annoying nationalities in the world... They always seem to think they are on top until shown the mirror. This story reminds me of a experience I had with a lot of Bangladeshis. All of them despised Pakistan

Wonder when was the last time you as a Pakistani took a look at the mirror, cause what the world sees is way different than what you think of your kind.

There are whole bunch of Bangladeshi folks who despises the Indian, Indians on PDF say that all day long, more on weekends !!

No sir,there is.
I think you missed the point.
And about letting them work,I meant to say,we don't discriminate outsiders.(Not every egg is gonna be fine in a basket) only god knows what would've happened if people here started migrating to the other parts like they do.without even bothering them they are abusing wholesale.

I agree with that my identity should be Bangladeshi first, not Sylheti.that's what I am trying to say.
Some of the comments are,Sylheti people are januar, inhumane, worst people of the planet,I know they are like this and all sort of negative stuff.(obviously you don't want me write the way they wrote).

BTW,I live in sylhet, not in the UK so I know what I am talking about.

Sorry what's a mainland Bangladeshi lol

I remember when 2 brothers were getting beaten to death with long sticks in Sialkot and people just crowded watching as well as local police.
Sialkot ? You were there ? When ?

Haha,I know.why should we hate each other?
I guess people not mature enough to use internet yet.

Say Syloti and Urdu spoken side by side. It's more likely you would comprehend more Urdu than Syloti although you are not an Urdu speaker.

Once again validate the fact Urdu was correct language for East Pakistan but that is another topic to discuss.
