No they are not.

But then, the inequality should not stem from where one is born. It may stem from one's qualification, capability, ingenuity etc. At birth, all should be equal. The later differentiation is there in all nation state, without having a explicit SOP. Unfortunately, its the first differentiation that exist in most part of India, which enabled the existing discriminations & grossly improper reservation system/ politics.

Why shouldn't inequality stem from birth? Whether should or not, it does. Different parental genetics, physique, maternity gestation characteristics, Healthcare, environment ....all invariably make each baby different at birth.

And it is everywhere, not just India

Do you mean to say people born to different parental genetics, physique, maternity gestation characteristics, Healthcare, environment have not excelled some fields of expertise? Also, apart from the genetics & physique (stems from genetics only), other things are relevant to any societal class relevant in India. IMO, genetical differentiation is Hitler-isque rationale. An Indian cannot be as athletic as an African. That should not lead to the Indian to have a lower social class than the African. Given a chance and their individual capabilities, both may excel in their respective fields, hence both should be treated as equal till its proven otherwise.

I think your definition of inequality is different from mine. I am referring to the prevailing cast system in India and its ill effects like discriminations & grossly improper reservation system/ reservation politics.

I already said all people are not equal, albeit in capabilities, qualifications, ingenuity etc. only. Also, the cast system under discussion is prevalent in most part of India only.
