-President is head of state and head of government can appoint Vice President and Departments.

-President, as the head of the government and holder of executive powers.
I would suggest:

1- President as head of state and PM as head of government.

2- Head of a political party can never be appointed as PM. He can appoint a party candidate for PM elections but he himself cannot take part in such elections.

3- Religious political parties should be banned from taking part in general elections. Their sole purpose should be to preach religion but not to do politics.

4- Names of political parties should not be based on the name of a person and should be banned for using such names i.e. PML(Nawaz), JUI-F, PML(Zia) should be banned.

5- Minimum educational qualification required to become an MNA should be M-phil or an equivalent professional degree.

Agreed, also add all ethnic nationalist parties to the ban list.

@El Sidd @Sher Shah Awan @Hareeb

I was thinking that instead, we have a 3 party system, a liberal party, conservative party and labor party, instead of banning all these parties with ethno-nationalist/fundementalist ideaologies, they would have to go through at least one of the 3 main recognized parties.

I am not sure about the education part.

You have to be realistic and know your own people.

The elites have had a good ol time exploiting the poor.

Which is why you would probably need a national unity government in place for 10 years to push through the reforms and then hold a general election with all other laws, edicts, institutions etc in place. Reforms have to be rolled out over the years, as sudden changes tend to leave the least amount of imprints, otherwise we will just fall back to the same old BS.

exactly.

and thus my insistence on continuation of democracy.

You can't force people in to those three political groupings. It's not a democracy otherwise. They should be free to choose their own political parties, as long as it doesn't spread religious/sectarian/ethnic hatred.

So PDP would have to go through the same corrupt system to win power? That's where we lost all our honest politicians before, in the grinding, corrupt machine that is our political system.

I was about to write this but I clicked "post reply" by mistake.
In addition, a strict action should be taken against parties those do politics on the bases of provincilism, bradari system, ethnic nationalism, sectarianism, muslim extremism & especially the ones those prefer Islam over Pakistan, and I guess most of Pakistani political parties prefer so called muslim brotherhood over national interests i.e. we know PPP is Iranian supporter and NS is KSA right-hand, and our national interests are usually undermined when we have a federal government by either of them.

Well said, perhaps the first clause of the constitution of PDP should categorically state that the life, property, sanctity and freedom of every Pakistani, regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, gender and caste is sacred and all who join the PDP vow to do all in their power to live to these ideals, both through spirit and practically.

So when you guys are going to register your PDP with Election Commission? :D

That requires unflinching commitment, dedication and an unnerving personality in a country like Pakistan. I am not sure many people on this forum are ready for this and go beyond mere words and put their thoughts in to practice.

Me personally? I am certain the moment ECP finds out my religious persuasion, my application for registering would be rejected.
