im not even asking the government to do the jobs...all im asking for is Cost Control from their side

let me get this clear...with an example say for instance if the listed or any other companies get the job done (very much fine) but try to understand that say if they do it for $7billion what about the rest of $5billion ????

what im trying to say is $12billion is too expensive for such a project (im not a professional or anything but $12billion simply dont make any sense)

i gave the burj khalifa example to make people understand that with this amount of money we can erect 6 or more of the worlds tallest buildings (which require alot of research, testing, luxuries (decor), apartment furnishings, electrics, plumbings etc)

.
Should've invested that money in Gawadar which can become future business hub of the Middle East

Countries usually do a mix.. Government, Local investors, and Foreign investors. Here is the thing. We have the possibility of doing that plus also use of loans from World Bank and Islamic Bank

Anyhow time will tell if its a gimmick like past leaders or dream into reality.

Nawaz must channel the funds to solve the problems of the current Islamabad on priority rather than dream about settling another one across the hills.

  • They had no money for the BRT.

  • The had no funds to develop the newly opened sectors. So, why not channel the money towards the pending projects?

  • There are water management challenges that need to be addressed. The capital faces not only a water shortage but also the present water lines had gone rotten and pour out due to which 30 to 40 percent water goes to waste.

  • Looks like while they were planning to put up the suggestion no one pointed out how much the seismic pattern of the area can influence the plans of any future development.

  • There is an acute shortage of public hospitals to cater to the needs of people, coming not only from Islamabad but also from as far off as Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. And with every passing day the condition is deteriorating.

  • There is an environmental problem on the rise. There are areas in which basic utilities are not present and quite a few services on halt just because of negligence on part of the government and it's developing authority.

  • Why not invest something in the energy sector and build few solar power plants across the hills to cater the future needs of the area?

If that is feasible it'll create jobs, solve the energy deficit and will be a fine way to utilize the money and gather something from the investment in the long run.

.
Do we truly have the money for the project, aren't we in enough deep waters as it is?

the timber mafia and cement mafia will pay.. where else do you think its going to come from?

25,000 acre land filled with timber is going to go wasted, a total environmental disaster.

We need to give priority to preserving our environment: Imran Khan

Chairman PTI Imran Khan issued a strong statement against the PMLN Government's plan to build a new city across the Margalla Hills linked by an underground tunnel from Islamabad. He said this was a complete environmental disaster destroying the natural beauty and habitat of Islamabad and the Margalla Hills. "This area is a conservation area of the National Park and cannot be destroyed to accomodate the greed of developers", Khan pointed out. He added it would also cause more traffic congestion thereby adding to the pollution od the Capital. The Chairman vowed PTI would raise this issue in the National Assembly and would demand a study on the environmental impact of this misguided project.

"We need to give priority to preserving our environment and respecting our environment preservation laws. This is our future generation's legacy and we have a responsibility to preserve it," Khan concluded.

shift the project somewhere else nawaz kingo !

.
Well if this is really going to be happen, I am in favor of this. But government should also focus on the development on the Other cities than Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi. Distributing development will solve many issues Just keep on increasing the size of big cities will cause more problems like vulnerable law and order situation as we are seeing in Karachi.

New Islamabad - a 12 Billion Dollars Project
