According to the article North Indians are of Middle East, Caucasians, Europeans, central Asians while the South Indians belongs to the subcontinent which is quite interesting to me.
For the west the Indian caste system is divided between higher caste and the lower untouchables only while there are many castes which are neither untouchables nor did they belonged to the so called higher castes, the higher castes itself is divided into many further castes such as Brahmin, Kayastha, Rajput, Thakur Vaishyas, etc.
As per the report the castes in India were developed 2000 years ago which could be accurate because human society evolved to the point where individual mastered in a particular skill or those who did a particular work belongs to the castes(group) of people who did the same work.

If the caste system stops existing, India will implode. The caste system is uniting the very thin social fabric of India. Brahmins come from the head of Vishnu, Dalits come from the feet. If Dalits become doctors and leaders, it will be the end of India. Dalits need to stick to cleaning sewers, and Brahmins need to stick to being doctors. This is hinduisms core value.
