This is clear as day light that what matters most to the man on the street is not memo gate or partial judiciary but jobs, cheap foods and shortage of energy. Primarily because of the fact that Pakistanis don’t want to pay taxes and with state owned industries a ‘black hole’ eating up nearly Rs 400-million of tax payer’s money, there is no easy solution.
You can’t’ have it both ways. If you want electricity you got to pay for it. First thing would be to clear the circular debt. Everyone must contribute towards meeting the expenses thru paying taxes and elimination of electricity theft, cutting down gov’t expenses, including that of the President & PM’s household. Additionally, the very rich should stop showing off their wealth thru Land cruisers & Pajeros. Austerity measures must start from the top.
Regarding drone attacks; when would our nation understand that ability to fight war is based upon industrial production? If we start shooting down drones and NATO helicopters, result would be a ban on import of Pak goods to the 40 odd nations that form NATO as well ban on sale of goods to Pakistan? We are unable to accept load shedding, would we able to live with shortage of everything? Hell, we are even importing butter from abroad and onions from India!
These are simple people and using foul language gets the heat out of the system. However neither prayers nor curses can resolve Pakistan’s woes. It can only be done thru severe belt tightening.
