A dollar crash is virtually inevitable, Asia expert Stephen Roach warns

See this is where u need the country specific information to make sense out of it all. And no Nobel prize has not lost its value and u research must be meaningful specially for STEMs

For example high-speed railways doesn’t make sense in US because one air-fare is so cheap here that it’s pointless to have railways . The other thing is that oil/car lobby is so strong here that they’ve delved into Americans mind to prefer having cars and depend on that sort of

As for theoretical physics. You do know theoretical physics delve with the stars, strong theory etc etc. it’s experimental physics that counts. Where China is just starting US has been an established leaders.

example 20 years ago every car manufacturer thought electric cars are impossible. US completed that milestone. Every scientist thought that once u send a rocket to space it is useless and hence space colonization would not be achieved spacex and blue origin achieved that or examples like hyper loop

China just launched its last satellite for its yesterday for its own GPS. US achieved that 40 years ago. China is agrarian growing fast but still agrarian

Also, in 2018 there were only 70k Asian graduates of STEM majors that includes entire ASia not just China. And 330k white graduates alone in STEM majors in US . So yeah Chinese are not dominating

I also remember when it became a bigger deal in US. When China created the fastest super computer ever. At first we didn’t care but when it became a bigger deal . US literally created 2 even faster super computers for no reason just to stick a nose to the

Microsoft going for augmented reality
Boston dynamics going to AI, robotics

The US has a good head start, agreed. Argentina even sent advisors to Japan to help the country to build warship 100 years ago. But that does not mean it will continue to lead.

.
Next month the dollar bill crash, and then the month after that it will crash again.

US didn’t got a head start US created those paths that now everyone are catching up to

that’s true only today’s success does not mean it will continue to lead and that happens only if the country stagnates. Which can be measured by economy, advancement of technology, and increase in standard of living, military technology etc.

So far US has not stop and still leads. The biggest breakthrough right now is the making of quantum computer by IBM one and only one of its kind.
- not 20 years ago everyone thought that quantum computer is virtually impossible to make and world will stay with classical computing. But IBM created the worlds first.
- No country is talking about colonizing mars
- no private sector is spending as much in space infrastructure as much as the US. Granted most of it is private through amazon and Tesla partnered with NASA
-the countries still catching up to 5th gen net technology . While recently USAF published a report saying they will not reopen F22 assembly line because by the time it will be operational. US will consider F22 as I delete so they are already thinking ahead of 5th.

As long as the country doesn’t stagnate and continues improving it’s all good. And the prosperity of US doesn’t mean the decline of China. It’s all good that humans as a whole are evolving , standard of living overall are getting

All my life of 33 years I have heard few things repeatedly:
- Pakistan is gonna disintegrate soon
- Dollar is gonna collapse
- World War 3 is gonna start soon
- The end of the world is right at the corner
- Some Messiah is coming soon

Nothing happened.

LOL. i was in my government class the first thing they taught us was what creates a super power and how to remain a Super power. and my professor said it is virtually odd that over the centuries this human behavior is so consistent that any inferior rival of the current super power will look for the second best country and find relief by constantly convincing himself that the 2nd country will overtake the super power any day

From romans, greeks, to arabs to USA it has all been the same

.
in my opinion US doesnt need to "fix" its deficit. because its currency is not pegged to anything else and its floating . depreciation would automatically occur. the current value of the dollar index is the value due to the deficit it currently has . if tomorrow the deficit increases the valuation would further go down

Theoretically, yes, in a hypothetical perfect market with no government intervention.

However the reality is that the market is imperfect and government intervention is the norm. Many countries with huge current account surplus recycle their excess savings into the US economy, not least because the USD is the reserve currency.
