I doubt it. There is no trust between India and China. But at the same time we recognize that we cannot afford enmity, hence a relation that has no strategic objective or goals

The soul of India and china lies in the civilization they have, family values, dharmic philosophy they follow and the traditions and culture they proudly represent. These things should be kept in tact as the two countries progress in this world of globalisation.

Chinese and Indians don't have that much in common lol, at least modern China and India. India has alot in common with Qing Dynasty/ROC era China actually.

Yes..you are right. India still continues to follow its ancient culture and tradition, while China has moved on...I was there is China recently, it is totally westernized and there are far few Buddhist temples or place of worship.

Not westernized. Modernized. Chinese think very differently from Westerners, but also very different from traditional ways. India is still traditional.

I remember there is actually a graph of cultural thinking, where Y axis is secular vs. religious and X axis is conservative vs. liberal. Chinese is more towards conservative but secular, while US is liberal/religious, Sweden is liberal/secular and India is conservative/religious.

I have been to many parts of the world. Modernity is not a civilization. West is a civilization. You can be traditional but modern. In my opinion, Chinese are westernized, at least in big cites such as Shanghai and Beijing. Chinese have forgotten their culture and are simply aping west in their outlook and ways.

Thats not possible. Modernity is in direct opposition to tradition. Modernity refers to cultural traits such as gender/racial equality, economic mobility, emphasis on merit over birth, the idea that people take control of their own destiny and the emphasis on science over faith. It has nothing to do with the clothes you wear or even what specific policies you support.

Easy example: Why do Chinese have the phenomena of "leftover men/women", i.e. seeing people who haven't married by age 30 as having a problem? Western culture is "who cares when they marry", you have people in 40's still having "boyfriends and girlfriends".

The most important part of a culture is the language. English is in absolutely no way threatening to Chinese culture, nor is the internet, because Chinese language and software dominates the Chinese internet. Meanwhile English has already replaced several smaller Indian languages and may one day even replace Hindi and Tamil, and India will become the largest English speaking nation in the world, because Indian internet uses fully Western software.

Not at all. Modernity is an evolution process. Traditions that evolve to conforms to present day become modern. At least that is how I see.

As on Hindi and Tamil being replaced by English, it is not true. Indians have two spheres of life, one personal the other work. Unlike in China where there is one language. Indians have hundreds of Languages. English has become a link language that helps all Indians to communicate among themselves and with the world. In personal life, I have not seen even one family that communicate in English. In work and business space, English rules.

Yep! India and China are caught up in a vicious geopolitical rivalry that has seemingly no escape. What's worse is that it is only going to get worse! Much worse, due to inevitable competition for land, resources, economy, influence, ideological and cultural differences in a shrinking world exacerbated further by the burgeoning population of both the countries.

Forget friendship or cooperation! We both would have done an excellent service to humanity if we just don't end up killing each others in the billions!

Really depends on which area you visit. Buddhist/Taoist temples are making a comeback. Unfortunately, a lot of the abbots/monks are frauds who are only interested in the worshippers' money.
