1. So why not an Eastern Silk Road - the China-Nepal-India-BD Economic Corridor? Benefits:

a. Nepal will be unshackled of Indian stranglehold. Eventually Bhutan will be similarly freed.

b. Will be of immense economic benefit to the Himalayan peoples.

c. Huge rise in Sino-India economic activity.

d. China's arrival will ensure peace in the NE.

e. BD will get an economic boost.

f. Will lead to economic exploitation of hydel and minerals including oil and gas.

g. China will have a shorter reach to SE Asia which will benefit the Chinese people in the SE and E of the country.

2. Obviously paranoid India will oppose this tooth and nail. It will veto any link through the Shiliguri Corridor. China and BD will have to find an answer to this.
