I always insisted the SCS disputes is all about the geopolitical struggles for hegemony in western Pacific between China and the US. Right now they are staring at each other and throwing light jabs to test the wills of the opponent.

All the actions are pointing China is not backing down. The question is will the US take extreme actions considering her stakes are not as high as China in these muddy waters.

You wish. Don't overrate your military. Last time you messed with the PLA in the Korean war, we gave you the biggest defeat in US military history. As our economy grows, more technologically we advance, the higher the military budget we have. More resources we have. US is barking up the wrong tree messing with the PLA. It seems the US have forgotten the absolute hiding they got in the Korean war.
Can you tell me what battle was it? Anyways it is you who are overestimating your military just look at the j-20 every chinese on this website said it can beat the F-22 at this and that, the PAK-FA at this when you just begin those programs.

. .
with just 1 Battle Group in the region, China will think twice about doing anything stupid.

China does not have the balls to attack or invade any nation as they are to weak... The world would be against China.
Then why didn't you save your ally Philippines when we spanked them and grabbed Scarborough Shoal from them?

.
Yes it was -- In popular Chinese soap operas approved and sponsored by The Party.

guess the story of the Korean war is not discussed in the US due to too much humiliation to admit defeat.

the US and its dogs came right upto the chinese border by destroying north korea, then china entered the war thinking the US real target was to invade china because of the overthrow of the american backed KMT. once china entered, we drove back the American dogs to the border that separate north and south korea.

this was one of the more famous victories for the PLA.

Battle of the Ch'ongch'on River - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

PLA just came off fighting the Japs and defeating the KMT and within a few months made a complete and utter mockery of the 8th US army. The so called superpower US military couldn't achieve its objectives against a weakened china. If we didnt enter the war, there wont be country called North Korea today.

shows the stereotype of ignorant and uneducated americans is true afterall.

This is the reason the US dont want to mess with the PLA, an all out war with china is a war to the very end until political objectives are achieved regardless of the number of casualties.

On the contrary, the US messed with your mighty PLA at least 3 times, the last time as recent as 1995. Your mighty PLA backed down in each instance and refused to engage. :hitwall:

You're kidding right?

You're equating the issuance of a visa with taking control of the executive branch's power over foreign policy and the prospect of waging war?

Give me a break. What a b.s. analogy.

The State Department is a part of the Executive Branch of the US government, yes?
The prevailing policy at that time was not to allow your ex-President Lee Teng-hui or any Taiwanese leader to visit the US because of pressure from PRC. But that policy was changed when the US Congress passed a resolution to force the US State Department to allow the visit. No, I'm not kidding.
Are you?

good, then we're in agreement. China isn't going to invade any other nation, we're simply protecting our own sovereign territory.

Now if the US is dumb enough to get involved and take sides in a territorial dispute with no economic gain, go right ahead.

Then again, I suspect most Americans are not as stupid as you looked with that post suggesting China invading other nations.

.

We don't see China protecting her own sovereign territory, what we see is China is using her size to seize and steal her neighbor's territory. We don't see China as a rival claimant country but a vicious professional land grabber and a thieving thief.

China stole Vietnam's Paracel Islands. China stole Philippines Mischief Reef. Now, China is attempting to steal Scarborough shoal.

Read East Sea: Luck and Unluck Post #1

Excerpt:
China intends to make the world to be familiar to the “U-shaped line” in the East Sea, which was even protested by an international news editor of Xinhua Zhu Fang. In an article entitled “South China Sea (East Sea) situation may hold back China’s political reform,” this Chinese journalist emphasized: “In our infancy, we saw the South China Sea map. A crude dotted border line puts the entire the South China Sea into China’s map. Today, we know that it is not true. That border is not only recognized by neighboring countries and the international community but it is not explained by Chinese scholars”.

Looks like you do not know how the US Constitution works as well you pretended to know.

While this may be just a 'resolution', if the US Congress decided to make it a law and if the US President signed it, then a particular part of foreign policy have fallen under US Congress influence. Kinda like the War Powers Resolution of 1973.

War Powers Resolution - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Why would the U.S. president sign it? There is a war only if Obama says so. The U.S. Congress is just another voice in the peanut gallery.

How many times do I have to repeat this fact? Secretary of State Clinton (who represents the Obama administration in foreign affairs) has repeatedly said, "The U.S. has no territorial claims in the South China Sea and will remain neutral."

Who cares what Congress thinks? They have the power of the purse. They don't control foreign policy. We only care what the Obama administration thinks.
