Work on government school toilets at peak; over 1.68% of the total target still to be achieved - The Economic Times

NEW DELHI: Two days to go before the deadline set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi expires on August 15, things have reached a feverish pitch right from the PMO down to districts and blocks as they struggle to ensure every government school has the promised toilet in place before the PM holds forth at the Red Fort for his second Independence Day speech.

Over 7,000 toilets— 1.6 per cent of the total target- — were still to be completed on the evening of 13th August and 98.32 per cent toilets were completed two days before the Independence Day.

Officials confirmed that senior officials from both the Cabinet Secretariat and the Prime Minister's Office were keeping a hawk's eye watch on the Swachh Vidyalaya mission, seeking hourly reports on construction status as countdown to I Day began.

Many companies here have taken it on themselves to build certain number of toilets, or adopted fixed areas.

Its a much more nation wide movement that the swaccha abhiyan (though in a way obviously part of the same).

This is the difference in Modi government and other government. You can see the projects being completed in Time and in budget.

In gujarat we had a project of 2 bridge to be completed in 16 months at a cost of 68 crore. Both the bridges were completed within 14 months at a cost of 65 crore. This sort of results are impossible in Khangress government.

Building a toilet is half the job done....... rest half is to make them use it............ Hope NGO's and Govt bodies able to educate the masses......
