91 remain missing as landslide buries buildings in Shenzhen

Sadly, only one so far.
The mud layer is too sick, though lives were detected by life sensors.
Local officers are unforgivable for their crime of dereliction of duty.
This is too much, all those families devastated...

. . . .
The only positive thing in the disaster is the landslide continued 15-20 minutes, loudly, shaking, so a lot of the citizens had enough time to run away. But the persons in buildings closest to the mountain were lost.
That was good, reduced the number of people affected and the severity.

Yes, nothing can compensate their loss.

True, that's what i always said myself. People's life should ALWAYS come first NO MATTER WHAT.Since we can never replace a life, a sorry/punishment/prison for those responsible wont ever bring back these people either. However, some business people/officials couldn't care less, all they care about is their money/business to hell with the rest. Reason its the government responsibility to make sure rules are followed and they need to be constantly monitoring/making sure the rules/laws are followed by enforcing them nationwide and imposing a heavy fine against any company/official/individual who has not followed the rules/law. Like this one(even though it was a British company i'm still happy the U.S government gave them a huge fine despite the fact that no life was loss as a result of the spill/accident, but the huge fine will acts as a major deterrent to other companies to PUT SAFETY FIRST). Cant imagine if this happened to my children. The affected families will be devastated FOREVER and this will also leave a bitter feeling of betrayal/anger towards the authorities responsible for this

Safety rules need to be respected and regularly enforced by officials else these man made disasters will keep happening like we have seen many times before

RIP to the death. :(

No matter where he is going, he is unforgivable.
Urban management bureau should be equally blamed.

Former urban management official in Shenzhen falls to death
SHENZHEN - Shenzhen police said on Monday that a man who fell to death from a building Sunday night has been identified as a former official in the city's Guangming New District, where 75 are still unaccounted for following a human-caused landslide over a week ago.

Police said the man surnamed Xu was former head of the district's urban management bureau. The investigation has excluded the possibility of homicide.

It is not immediately known whether Xu had been put under investigation for the landslide, which hit 33 buildings in the Hengtaiyu industrial zone in the southern Chinese city on Dec 20, when a huge pile of construction waste collapsed.

Yang Huanning, chief of the State Administration of Work Safety (SAWS), pledged to thoroughly investigate the landslide and severely punish those responsible. He was speaking at a meeting that followed a mourning ritual on Saturday.

Top procuratorate investigates malpractice in Shenzhen landslide
BEIJING - The Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) on Saturday announced that it would investigate the landslide in south China's Shenzhen for suspected malpractice crimes involved.

Prosecutors from both the SPP and the local procuratorate of Guangdong will form a special team to investigate the incident, the SPP said in a statement.

The prosecutors will also work with the State Council investigation team to seriously deal with possible duty-related crimes in the case, such as misuse of power, dereliction of duty and bending the law for personal interests, it said.

The SPP pledged to bring the offenders behind the incident to justice and make further efforts to ensure work safety.

The State Council investigation team confirmed Friday that the landslide in Shenzhen that has left dozens missing was a work safety incident, not a geological disaster.

The tragedy was caused by the collapse of a huge pile of construction waste, rather than any natural geological phenomenon, according to the State Council team.
