More Christians have been harmed in Pakistan, continuing an all-too-frequent occurrence.

International Christian Concern (ICC) spokesman Jonathan Racho says his organization has received the latest word on an incident in Pakistan.

"A group of Christians has been attacked by a mob of Muslims in a park near where Osama bin Laden was killed, and the group of Christians [was] actually gathered to watch a movie about Jesus Christ," he reports.

No deaths resulted from the attack, but some damage to projection equipment and physical injuries were reported. But Racho stresses that the Islamists are not the only ones at fault in cases like this.

"We deplore the action of the Islamic radicals," he assures. "Unfortunately, the Pakistani government officials have not arrested the people who were responsible for attacking the Christians."

While encouraging Christians in the country to continue to be bold and spread the gospel, irrespective of the personal cost, ICC is urging Pakistan to take action against the attackers. At the same time, Racho reemphasizes the need for Americans to pray for the persecuted Christians.

Minorities, Hindus in particular, at risk in Balochistan: HRCP
Minorities, Hindus in particular, at risk in Balochistan: HRCP – The Express Tribune
Minorities in Balochistan, particularly Hindus, are increasingly being kidnapped for ransom and forced to convert to Islam, according to a report of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan’s (HRCP) Balochistan chapter.
As many as 50 people belonging to the Hindu community were kidnapped over the past three years and were freed after paying large sums of money in ransom, the HRCP’s Tahir Hussain and Zahoor Shahwani told the media.
The HRCP’s report expressed serious concerns over other human rights matters in the province, such as missing persons turning up as bullet-riddled bodies and incidences of target killing.
It also said that political activities to mobilise public opinion in Balochistan have come to a standstill, as no major political parties hold gatherings and rallies because of the current law and order situation.
Many Hindus have now stopped sending their children to school because of a lack of security. Traders, doctors and retailers are being kidnapped or threatened, said the chairman of the HRCP’s Balochistan chapter. He added that the son of a well-known Hindu doctor was recently kidnapped and a Hindu surgeon was kidnapped a month ago. He also said that most victims do not file a criminal case against their abductors out of fear.
Discovery of mutilated bodies of missing persons is on the increase. As many as 188 decomposed bodies have so far been dumped in Balochistan since June 4 last year.
Most of the victims were political leaders and activists and students. There have also been incidences of lawyers working on the cases of missing persons being killed.
Shahwani, a council member of the HRCP, said they had set up a special cell for collecting evidence and documents about missing persons. About 12 families submitted documents in connection with such cases. Those who ‘resurfaced’ were reluctant to record their statements and appear before the courts, he added.
According to the interior ministry, only 44 people are missing in Balochistan, while the relatives of missing persons in the province insist they have information about 1,300 missing persons.
The HRCP urged the government to refrain from brute force and instead concentrate on political solutions for Balochistan problems.
According to the HRCP, 83 people, including teachers, political activists and police officials, have been killed in 50 incidents of targeted killing this year, while 58 people had lost their lives and 74 were injured in 58 bomb blasts.

It just a simple thing and Pakistani made it a big issue?. Even if she did on purpose , nothing wrong in that. She is just a school student better warn her and give minor punishment and teach discipline with care that is main duty of the school. Hw the school allowed to leak those matters in public? the school administration should be at the student side. If u people thinking by writing such kind of word against prophet muhammed would defame his popularity and dignity? that ur views quite insane .I heard prophet himself forgiven people who poured rubbish on him and visited her while she was sick .

Pkaistan is an Islamic country. Anyone who says these kind of things should be shot and made to pay in the worst form. Probably chop the hand that wrote it. Go pak. I am with you on this. Don spare the family by also the unborn child of the girl.
Girl accused of blasphemy for a spelling error – The Express Tribune

Girl accused of blasphemy for a spelling error

Eighth-grader expelled from school; mother forced to move from city.
ABBOTTABAD:
It may have been a mere misplaced dot that led to accusations of blasphemy against a Christian eighth-grader, whose miniscule error led to her expulsion from school and uproar amongst local religious leaders.

Faryal Bhatti, a student at the Sir Syed Girls High School in Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) colony Havelian, erroneously misspelt a word in an Urdu exam while answering a question on a poem written in praise of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). The word in question was ‘laanat’ instead of ‘naat’ – an easy error for a child to make, as the written versions of the words are similar.

According to the school administration and religious leaders who took great exception to the hapless student’s mistake, the error is ‘serious’ enough to fall within the realm of blasphemy, Saturday.

Spelling out her punishment
On Thursday, Faryal’s Urdu teacher was collecting the answer sheets from her students when she noticed the apparently offensive word on her pupil’s sheet. The teacher, Fareeda Bibi, reportedly summoned the Christian girl, scolded her and beat her. Her punishment, however, did not end here. When Faryal’s class fellows learnt of the alleged blasphemy, the teacher brought the principal’s notice to the matter, who further informed the school management.

In the meanwhile, the news spread throughout the colony. The next day, male students of the POF colony school as well as certain religious elements took out a rally, demanding the registration of a criminal case against the eighth-grader and her expulsion from the area.

Prayer leaders within the community also condemned the incident in their Friday sermons, asking the colony’s administration to not only take action against Faryal but her entire family. In the wake of the increasing tensions, Managing Director POF Colony Havelian Asif Siddiki called a meeting of colony-based ulemas and school teachers to discuss the situation. The girl and her mother were asked to appear before the meeting, where they explained that it was a mere error, caused by a resemblance between the two words. The two immediately apologised, adding that Faryal had no malicious intentions.

In a move that was apparently meant to pacify the religious elements clamouring for action against the teenage ‘blasphemer’, the POF administration expelled her from the school on Saturday. Faryal was not the only one who got in trouble for her spelling error, however, as her mother, Sarafeen Bhatti, who was a staff nurse at the POF Hospital Havelian for several years, was immediately transferred to POF Wah Cantonment Hospital.

Decision applauded
While talking to The Express Tribune, Maulana Alla Dita Khateeb of Gol Masjid praised the decision of the POF colony administration, claiming that he had personally seen the answer sheet in question. He further went on to say that he had met the girl himself, who had apologised for the word used in error. Asked whether the incident still fell within the realm of blasphemy and whether Faryal deserved expulsion when she had misspelt the word unintentionally, Khateeb said that although he was unclear about the intentions of the girl, the word she had used was sacrilegious.

The managing director of POF Colony was not available for comment.

Blasphemy because of a typo by a child? Am tempted to ask: 'Is this a joke?' but given what I know of religious one upmanships by religionists the world over, and the blasphemy charge is such an act of overt religiosity to show that I-am-Holier-than-thou, the question to ask of these people is: 'Are YOU a joke?' Always the same victims: Women and children.
