The new measured height of Mount Qomolangma, the world's highest peak, is 8848.86 meters, according to an announcement made jointly by China and Nepal on Tuesday.

Its the name in tibetian and han chinese.

The mountain grew higher.
This is possible for 2 reasons.
1. The initial measuremenst were not accurate
2. Due to tectonic plate movement the mountain has been pushed up over time

I am sticking with Everest
