I dont think beijing goverment has the power and right to sweep away any politicians in HK.
but Hong Kong will be allowed to directly elect its leader in 2017. hongkong people should then open their eyes to elect a good leader by themselves.

The eventual winner of the Chief Executive election is not too bad actually.

The other two candidates for the position were just awful though. Really awful, both were fending off charges of corruption even during the election itself.

It's a real fine line between being a bureaucrat to advance the interests of yourself or the country.

There's very few who would be completely to the latter.

You can only try and influence them to serve the country more than themselves.

Plenty HK politicians are earning too much and doing very little for the society. The previous Chief Executive was just like that, probably corrupt as well. Anti corruption lessons are handy but i do question how useful it will be after all it's a psychological human nature. Even when there's death penalty people still commit murder or commit other crimes.

The laws are in place, problem is poor IMPLEMENTATION of those laws in existence.

Example:

In 2004 there was a law that came in existence that banned building golf courses without government approval.
Since 2004 until today there has been only 10 official golf courses allowed to be built.

But guess what....now we hear there are over 600, yes 600, illegal golf courses built during that time.
Developers say they want this land to build 'parks' instead of saying its to build golf courses to skirt the law but instead they build massive resource guzzling golf courses that only the very rich can afford to play.
Our food security and water security is at risk due to this as land that could be used to grow grains, fruit, vegetables are used for building golf courses.
Now we have to import grains from the US, thus our geopolitical position is weakened due to depending on our biggest rival for food supply.

Nothing has been done over this!
