Possible only with the inflow of large funds and foreign assistance. Afghanistan got exhausted and breathless in the attempts of stirring Pashtunistan movement in KPK and tribal areas in 50s and 60s, but they just wasted their money. The tribes along durand are very hard to maneuver , you have to sit and make deals with each Malik and there are hundreds and thousands of them. The Third Anglo-Afghan war, to liberate KPK and FATA , failed due miscalculation and wrong assumptions, Lar Pakhtuns didnt rise in rebellion, they were disinterested.Only one movement in the history was able to win their support , the Sufi Roshnai movement , which fought against Mughals in tribal areas for 70 years.

Faqire of ipi of waziristan did started Pashtunistan movement but it failed due to lack of support from traditional maliks, in fact he had already lost the support of clans in 40s in his war against British empire. British bought the Maliks of NW, so Faqir had to rely on support from various individuals rather than clans. Faqir of IPI demanded crores of rupees from Afghanistan to fuel his Pashtunistan movement but Afghanistan didint have that much money. So the movement failed.

KPK would never respond to such calls, the people here are accustomed to be ruled by non-pashtuns since Mughal times. FATA and PATA were sensitive areas during British times, and its from here where Taliban have sprung in Pakistan. PATA's last turbulence was Fazlullah, its pacified now. While the FATA has not been pacified and is prone to the stirring and maneuvering by others (America takes huge interest in FATA). If Afghanistan gets divided on ethnic lines , it will have huge impact on FATA and its people will definitely be approached by Pashtuns of other side. I dont know what will be their response, their businesses and livelihood are dependent on Pakistan, not Kabul or Kandahar.

You must be high on Paan, Northern Afghanistan is not developed or it is as much developed as South........Most importantly, most of the mineral resources are found in south and east of Afghanistan including 1 trillion dollars worth world's largest lithium ores in Ghazni

Both of you please stop turning on each other. FATA and KPK are Pakistan's backbone. Lose them and the country is finished. Have you seen the map of Punjab and how it narrows at times to less than 80 miles. That is how much 'depth' Pakistan would have so both of you give it a break.

In fact I think Pak should let all Pashtun from Afghanistan free unlimited access to Pakistan. We are larger and we should be magnanimous to Pashtuns of Afghanistan because in the long run they are going to be our strength. Anybody who knows anything about Irish and British should know how the British despite provocation kept their border open to Irish citizens from Republic of Ireland. Today the Irish are at peace with British and you can hardly split them.

So don't get caught in parochial politics. Hold your fire for the Ganga-Yamuna dwellers ....

Trust me the Pashtunistan thing is dead and buried like Samandri said. I never react to these type of provocations because by doing so your actually feeding and sustaining it. Something that is nothing, that is it is zero you treat it as zero.

Have you ever gone after girls? I have wasted half my life on doing that. The thing you learn along the way is if they react to your moves means they are giving importance to you. That is they put value on you by reacting. This means you might have a chance.

The worsst outcome is after you make moves they don't even show any form of reaction. This means they put zero value on you. In other words they are not bothered. That they dismiss you as nothing.

Now going on this Pashtunistan issue it is dead and done. Now I know there are Pashtun's in Aghanistan who speak bad about us but just believe me even them I would meet with open arms because in the long run they will come over to us because we are inextricably linked. I will not extend the same to Tajiks and the rest.

I gave you example of how British handled the Irish. The irish bombed, shot British soldiers from 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and 1990s but all along the British left their door open to Ireland. All of Ireland could have moved to UK and these guy's did not bother.

I travelled from UK to Ireland in 1990s and I could not believe that with all what IRA was doing the British had left their border wide open. All you did was drive your car onto a ferry boat and no checks, no passports, nothing and your through. This benign policy worked because over time the Irish became part of British society. Today the Irish are so subsumed into Britain that you cannot even figure the differances.

So Pakistan is the larger country. We need to be magnanimous. I never worry about Pakistan's future but trust me the day we have problems with Pashtun's is the day Pakistan is RIP. We can take on anything as long as we are united. We must for strategic reasons extend open arm to our Pashtun brothers across the Durand line even if they talk bad about us. Big heart?

Our government knows this. Who the hell do you think we have as our friends inside Afghanistan? Uzbeks? Tajiks? Hazara? Turkmen? The Pashtun's insidce Afghanistan don't know this but their biggest protector is Pakistan but sometimes even brothers don't realize this.

The Tajik/Uzbeks hate the Pashtun. However the Pashtun can count on Pakistan always. Who do you think Afghan Taliban are? They in fact are Pashtuns. That is why ISI supports them because they are our guy's. So look at the big picture. Even if some ignorent brainwashed Afghan Pashtun says something ignore it and if they push it remind them of what Tajik's do to them. That is all.

This is PDF and think of tactics. I will always make friends with everybody, Russian, Isreali, Afghan. I don't care. This is called economics. Just save your firepower for your primary target. In our case you know who that is. Focus there.
