MUMBAI-
A deplorable incident occurred in Yevla Town of the district Maharashtra when a 60-year old woman named Jebubai Bawale was brutally assaulted and set on fire for allegedly flouting a local voting ‘fatwa’.
According to the details, some political activists whose political affiliation could not be identified yet, pressurized her to vote for a particular candidate and kept a close watch on her.
After she had caste the vote, the goons got to know that she has not voted for the said candidate. Enraged at her act, they confronted her and demanded an explanation as to why hasn’t she submitted to their order.
Bawale pleaded that she might have done so as she has poor eyesight. But the activists refused to accept her version of story and blatantly started ridiculing and assaulting her.
One of the goons brought a can full of kerosene which they poured on her and set her ablaze before fleeing.
She was rushed to the district hospital with over 70 percent burns and then shifted to a private hospital where she is now battling for life, Yevla police said.
