Good question.

How much firing was going on? Any IED explosions? During the period of your stay, how many attacks on military vehicles?

Oh common man . Military uses it's best protection where there a chance of IED explosion. Look at US when it deploys in affected areas.
Or our military for that case. They use trucks + hardened mini trucks/jeep in kashmir. No1 wants to get blown by IED and than take out their trucks.
1st visit Kashmir than you will know. You will find 50-100 trucks convoy in which all sorts of vehicles are transported. And they always have good protection modified trucks with them. Never saw those above fancy vehicles. Just our men putting armored plates on trucks.

You are missing a lot.

First, these vehicles haven't been inducted formally, they have just been contracted for.

Second, you won't see them unless there is the kind of situation where they are needed. You won't see them in Shimla. You won't see them in Ladakh. As and when they come in, you may see them in some sensitive areas of Kashmir or escorting convoys.
