Major martyred during gun battle with terrorists in Khyber district: ISPR​

A Pakistan Army major was martyred during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Khyber tribal district’s Shakhas area, the military’s media affairs wing said on Thursday.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that security forces had conducted an IBO last night after receiving reports about the presence of terrorists.

The ISPR said that while security forces were trying to establish “blocking positions to cut [off] the escape routes of [the] terrorists”, a party of terrorists was spotted by Major Mian Abdullah Shah — who was “leading the operation from the front”.

It said that the 33-year-old major, a resident of Kohat, embraced martyrdom as a result of a heavy exchange of fire.

“Three terrorists and their facilitators were apprehended. Sanitisation of the area is being carried out to eliminate the terrorists present in the area,” the ISPR said.

“Security forces of Pakistan are determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our soldiers further strengthen our resolve,” it added.

The incident comes three days after an army major and a soldier were martyred in an exchange of fire with terrorists in Kech district of Balochistan, hours after the martyrdom of four security personnel in simultaneous attacks on three checkpoints in Sherani district.

A day earlier, three soldiers were martyred and as many civilians were critically injured in a suicide attack in the general area of Miran Shah in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s North Waziristan district.

soldiers have always been the cannon fodder for the genralz. Apna bacha to ameerka, UK, Australia or Canada main parta hain, or gareeb ka bacha border per marna ka lia. 75 saalon sa yahi churan bachta ahh raha hain.

I am neutral. Psycho Munir should work on improving professional capacity of his military instead of oppression of Pakistani people and political meddling.
If that many soldiers lost their lives during an lBO, that's a big question mark on preparation, planning and execution capabilities of Pakistan army in anti terrorism operations. And that's after 3 decades of extensive experience.
Also equipment. If Psycho Munir sending soldiers for IBO on a Vigo Dala instead of a special armoured vehicle, and a few Kalashnikovs, then he is the murderer.
Did they not learn anything?
We need have deeper look at these incidents instead of just praising the military about losing soldiers left right and centre.

There is truth in what he said. Illegal Afghans played a large part in the 9 may riots. There is also ethno favouratism between IK and Pashtuns - hence his desire to resettle TTP (TTP just killed a child in a blast)

It's more to do with rubbish planning, lobotomous execution and shambolic equipment.
We should stop praising military for losing so many lives in such operations.
And have a deeper look that why this happens repeatedly?
Why military sends men to lose their lives ? When such loss of life could be avoided by better planning, equipment and better execution?
When will military also start making public the investigation report of such losses?
