Chinese missile destroyers pass near Okinawa
NAHA, Japan, Dec. 13, Kyodo

Six Chinese missile destroyers from the Pacific passed waters between Okinawa's main island and Miyako Islands in southwestern Japan into the East China Sea on Friday, the Defense Ministry's Joint Staff office said Saturday.

The vessels, considered part of a naval exercise that China has announced it is conducting in the Pacific, did not enter the territorial waters of Japan.

The six missile destroyers -- recognized as Zhengzhou 151, Taizhou 138, Zhoushan 529, Yiyang 548, Qiandao Hu 886, and Beijixing 851 -- were conducting drills for the landing and taking off of helicopters, and for offshore supplies, in the western Pacific Ocean, the ministry said.

This is what online news has been reduced to.
Sensational and provocative title to provoke clicks and then it is news about almost nothing.

The funny thing is that JMSDF ships escorted PLAN warships en route to the Pacific. There is a growing cooperation between the two...

:)

Do you have any pictures of JMSDF ships escorting the PLAN ships?

Why would they need any escort if those ships didn't even cross into Japanese territorial waters?

Where are the sensationalist news when U.S. navy ships pass trough international waters close to China or even violating Chinese territorial waters?

Oh yes crying again about China and "muh freedom of navigation". Fucking hypocrites.

Despite all of the saber-rattling, there definitely seems to be a gradual but noticeable improvement in how both governments handle these incidents. It could simply be attested to the growing familiarity with these encounters but it would be nice for both nations if the cause ran much deeper than that.
