Chairman PTI demands thumb impression’s audit, urges CJ to direct ECP for the task

Lahore: Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Imran Khan urges Chief Justice of Pakistan to direct Election Commission for thumb impression’s audit in only four constituencies of the National Assembly in order to identify and subsequently to fix faults in the electoral process. Calling his demand a just and fair formula to decontaminate whole electoral regime for upcoming local body polls, he warned of stern resistance if forced for otherwise.

In a press conference here at his residence in Lahore, Chairman PTI brought in the report submitted by National Database and registration Authority (NADRA) in Supreme Court on audit of votes polled in NA-256, Karachi and stated that the corruption and misappropriations are evident which supplements our standings over the issue of massive rigging in general election on May 11.

“We accepted the results only for democracy but did not vow to tolerate rigging in elections”, he stated and warned of to rush to the streets if not provided with justice.

Terming steeling of people’s mandate “the heinous crime” Mr. Khan urged the Chief Justice to intervene and order for thumb impression’s audit as independent and superior judiciary was the only hope for him and masses at large.

“Our demand for recount on the basis of biometrics is not for ourselves rather for the future of both the democracy and country. Therefore we would go to every extent to protect the two and would not let rulers repeat the same in upcoming local body elections,” he categorically asserted.

In his interaction with media, PTI’s Chairman condemned the bid of government and opposition for chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

“Quite likely to their predecessors, the rulers do not appear committed to root out corruption from the country as they are trying to bargain with opposition party for appointing mutually agreed person to the slot,” he said. He also rejected the nomination of former president’s sister for Public Accounts Committee’s chairpersonship.

Answering queries of the journalists, Mr. Khan expressed serious concerns over the working of ECP’s election tribunals. He told journalists that around 400 cases are pending before election tribunals even after four months down the elections.

“The judges of election tribunals are also under pressure and are unable to deliver justice”, he said and questioned, “Why the judged, hearing the cases of mine and Hamid Kan’s stepped down instead of deciding about our grievances.”
