Thanks for the compiled list ashok.

This shows that the Indian businesses are expanding and growing indicating a vibrant and hot economic market. Economic growth is indeed true. (Big picture)

(Now behind the scenes) Who are the actual benefactors of our economic growth? vs Are the needy benefiting from this growth, If so by how much?
It shows that the wealth is shifting its base to a few lucky ones benefiting from the economic growth and is bound to motivate a lot more to make this elite league at the risk of stealing these benefits from those who actually need them. It may unleash a competition amongst the elite class to amass more wealth at the cost of others who should be the beneficiaries.

.
No politician in the list. I was expecting italian mafia clan names.

.
Oligarchs rule india, much like Russia after the collapse of the USSR. one must ask, if these billionaires were only 1% less rich, how many people could be lifted out of poverty?

Unfortunately China is moving in this direction, with the American Wall Street mafia fooling and ruling us all and stealing power from right under the CPC's feet.

Do you think they will disclose their worth?... There are many more people who will be billionaires, but don't make it to the list. There are many many many more who are billionaires in India.

Recent example: Hasan Ali,
Hasan Ali Khan or Syed Mohammed Hassan Ali Khan[1] is a 56-year-old alleged money-launderer[2] based in India and allegedly worth USD 9 billion or more according to police-authorities. This figure has been verified from a letter written by UBS (Zurich) to Khan. The Government of India has also confirmed the existence of this account in UBS, and ordered him to pay Rs 50,000 crore (USD 10 billion) in taxes on that wealth

I was thinking about the same Hasan Ali when i was going through the list and there you go somebody else was thinking about him as well ..

Not true Brahmins wield more power than all those billionaires put together

Recent example: Hasan Ali,

Actually the Zurich UBS reply actually say the opposite. UBS said that the documents were forced.

ED lacks evidence on Hasan Ali Khan's UBS account : North: India Today
However, in a statement issued last month, UBS declared all such reports to be false. They denied holding any accounts for, or any assets of Hasan Ali Khan.

Just shows the incompetence of the investigative agencies and how deep the rot goes. Its not one person, there is a whole network of investigative officers, judges, businessmen and maybe politicians who will protect him, if in fact he is really guilty that is.

wow what a news

Maybe true but who knows how many more like him are there... The problem is that we will never come to know how much money they are hiding.

Take the case of Raja... there are allegations that he took more than 4000 crores (close to $1B) as bribes. It is indeed surprising that none of the politicians figure in this list and the fact is that these so called network of officials are also equally guilty in taking their "cut" and allowing such large scale corruption to get mired in legal loopholes. The irony is that once people amass such wealth, they can easily manipulate the people investigating the case around it so they can live rest of their lives and go scottfree.

.
i dont feel proud looking at the list. while it shows the companies headed by them are making huge profits and bringing revenue to country it also shows that our growth is not inclusive. even if 1% of this wealth can be distributed amongst poor then it will be good.

yes...true...

Make sure you people have enough food for your people in India, and STOP dreaming about "50 Indian billionaires in global richest club"

i'm not sure whether it's a good thing or bad thing to have that many people on this list, considering there is such a discripancy in the distribution of nations wealth!! in reality the list is much longer than the official forbes one. I'm sure these billionairs will be dwarfed in front of our politicians, if their true wealth is ever made public.
Sad story is these listed billionairs & corrupt politicians scratch each others back to safeguard their self interest & in the bargain general public in taken to the cleaners.
There is nothing to be proud of this list!!
