'4,000 new AC buses, taxicabs for capital soon'

If instead of BD it were India, then the latter would have initially bought 100 or 200 buses on condition that the remaining 1800 or 1900 buses be assembled in Bangldeash. Now, the govt is purchasing 2000 buses directly from the foreign countries. I cannot personally endorse such an idiotic policy.
Mate, you are confused with our Military purchase.
This whole non sense thread is about some unfounded claim that your government is purchasing Buses from a "Private" Indian vehicle manufacturer. Wait for someone to confirm this. Also I hope you realize the cost of vehicle manufacturing plants (Its same as Assembling plant). While assembling is not exactly a rocket science, who do you think will assemble this vehicles in BD ? ... GoB or Tata's ? .... or will you then search for a local manufacturer who will pour in money to assemble this vehicle in BD ?

How a country can progress or industrialize with such a backward thinking? A huge purchase like this must benefit the country's industries. It is not AL or BNP, it is any govt that make these purchases without any long term benefit to the country.
Its not thinking .... rather it's the industrial capacity of your country which is limiting. As it is your country is currently not a manufacturing work force. Even if one were to consider this as a "Big" purchase, do you have the necessary infrastructure to support such a industry? .... I guess, you do not. Rather, its your private sectors responsibility to engage in industrial manufacturing. Do you think GoI hand holds our industry ?

Even if BAL goes for another Indian junk , well its expected from BAL .They have to loot all they can in these 18 months
after which they are getting extinct. As for India, well they will have to get back the money they invested on BAL in 2008. We
have to admit, India was always crooked to the core and this time they really have us in their grip and so naturally they
will not take any prisoners. Only positive aspect here is that future generations will inshallah get aware of this snake known as
India.

Last time BNP ended up procurring huge number of maruti and ambasador
taxis from India, and the locals were given permits to import Tata Buses,
even the green CNG wheelers rolling on streets were from India.

It would be hard to clean off the junks that already is there. Was hoping
some private importers would be prioritized but as soon as I saw Saber Hussains
name, Déjà vu!

Taxis were imported by private sector, how BNP as govt was involved in it? Those taxis are long gone. I can understand you are desperately trying to shift Awami stooge work on past regime. Awami stooge work has no competetion by anyone.

PMC’s new Tata buses break down before journey

The 16 new buses added to the existing fleet of the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) are courting controversy, one after the other. Earlier, the buses were lying unused in Nehrunagar. Now, Pune Mirror has got information that most of these buses have developed problems and are undergoing repairs.


Previous controversy

PMPML had purchased these CNG buses manufactured by Tata and had kept them in the Nehrunagar depot. The transport body was not plying these buses and the leaders of the opposition in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) had alleged that these buses were kept waiting for inauguration on the birthdays

of prominent Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leaders. Recently, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Vikas Mathkari had forcefully tried to inaugurate these buses after which PMPML brought a few buses on the road.

‘Ailing’ buses

Now, PMPML insiders have told Pune Mirror that these buses have been shifted to the Nigdi depot because some of them have developed problems. A PMPML worker said on condition of anonymity, “These Tata-manufactured buses run on CNG and have doors on both sides.

But some of them are facing problems such as CNG leakage and pick-up issues. Therefore, these buses have been brought to Nigdi depot. A team from Tata came to the depot to repair the buses. They even gave a demonstration to our workers, showing us how to repair these faults.”

A PMPML official said, “Only three to four days back, some of these buses were brought on Sambhajinagar- Pune station route while some others were put on Nigdi-PMC route. But now, some of these buses are already giving problems. PMPML has got these buses under JNNURM and each bus cost around Rs 27 Lakh. A total of 34 such buses are supposed to added to PMPML fleet in the near future.” PMPMLspeak
R N Joshi, Chairman and Managing Director, PMPML, said, “There were minor defects in these buses and the company had rectified them.” He added that 15 buses were already on road.
