State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam has said the government will look into the issue

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam has strongly condemned the allegations made by a Bangladeshi minority leader to US President Donald Trump, and said the government will look into the issue.

“I answered various questions from various countries and NGOs, both at home and abroad, related to human rights several times, in the full house of the UN human rights agency. Individuals like Rana Dasgupta were there too. But I never saw anyone asking questions with the allegations that Priya Saha made,” he said on Friday.

Shahriar said the government would listen to her allegations and look into those.

The state minister mentioned that President Donald Trump knows that false allegations are conveyed to him, and the US administration routinely gets information through their embassy in Dhaka. “We remain in touch always.”

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said Priya Saha's allegations had no basis as no such incident was taking place in the country.

In the video clip that went viral on social media on Friday, Priya Saha, one of the organizing secretaries of Bangladesh Hindu-Bouddha-Christian Oikya Parishad, was heard telling President Trump: “Sir, I'm from Bangladesh... 37 million Hindus, Buddhists and Christians are disappeared. Please help us – for the Bangladeshi people. We want to stay in our country.”

She also said there were 18 million people of minority groups in Bangladesh. “My request is, please help us, we don't want to leave our country, just help us stay. I've lost my home, they've burned my home, they (have) taken away my land, but no judgement (has) yet (been) taken please, please...”

Trump was heard asking her: “Who took the land and home?” In reply, she said the Muslim fundamentalist groups.

“Always they're getting the political shelter, always.”

At one stage, Trump extended his hand and held her hand for a few seconds.

“I've watched the video conversation between Priya Saha and Trump. It's a complete lie,” Shahriar Alam said.

About criticism of various communities while criticizing Priya Saha, the state minister said: “This is also not correct.”

Disapproving of Priya Saha's claim, he said such behaviour from a person who is engaged in various levels of society is not acceptable.

The state minister said Bangladesh is a shining example of religious harmony, and many damage its reputation for personal interest or not understanding the matter properly.

“All should refrain from carrying out such activities.”

Meanwhile, Molla Azad Hossain, the acting superintendent of police (SP) in Pirojpur, where Priya Saha is from, also dismissed the allegation made to the US president.

He said no such incident took place in Pirojpur and there was no authenticity to her allegation. “If anyone tries to harm the religious harmony here, law enforcers will take strict measures to prevent him/her.”

General secretary of Bangladesh Hindu-Bouddha-Christian Oikya Parishad, Rana Dasgupta, said he was not aware how Priya Saha went to the US and approached Trump.

He said she was not among the three persons who represented Oikya Parishad at the ministerial meeting on advancing religious freedom hosted by the US Department of State.

“I have nothing else to say,” he said, declining to comment on her allegations.

The second ministerial meeting on advancing religious freedom hosted by the US Department of State was held in Washington, DC. Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen attended the meeting.

Delegates from 106 countries with about 40 foreign ministers attended the meeting at the invitation US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

USA ambassador to Bangladesh Robert Muller rejected the allegation of Priya Saha as they are not true. He further said Bangladesh is a prime example of religious harmony.

Religious minority groups from different country mostly from Muslim countries went to complaint. Surprisingly no one from India was there but religious persecution is now at the peak there. :p:

. . .
Shows you the reality of these Muslim hating Hindus. And here I have read some cuck Bangladeshis saying "indians and Bangladeshis are same people with different countries":rofl:

Forget all else, just look how degrading indian members are here to Bangladeshis. indian members are FAR more respectful of Pakistan and Pakistanis than they are of Bangladesh. To them, Bangladeshis are below their slaves and they can literally do anything with Bangladesh and Bangladesh can not respond back (unlike Pakistan)...

Time for Bangladeshis to wake up and smell the coffee.

.
I sometimes wonder how Pakistanis can make such comments without the least bit of humility considering their failed state and their PM going around the world with a begging bowl. Do you feel like a big man making these nonsensical childish posts? Next time, throw more emojis in. Maybe you'll find a little fun in your miserable life that way.

Yep failed state yet it still gets a seat at the table for some of the most important geo-political matters. What is Bangladesh's role in International affairs? what importance does it hold?

And the results of those important seats are clear to see. Lowest HDI barely making it to medium, low education and suck in about every social indicators concerning the people. Economy is in abysmal shape where even with 20% more people Pakistan has lower economic output in nominal GDP than Bangladesh.

People inside can eat grass, have no education but you know, the importance in the world is what matters. Clearly tells where each nations priority is. Maybe, had you focused more on human development and not playing fiddles with international politics that you would have prospered to have a functioning economy.

Where do these superiority complex come from? You are from a piss poor country and your PM has to beg just to keep your economy afloat. Not grow, just afloat. Whereas BD's economy is one of the fastest growing in the world. How much influence would you have with no money? Keep having no shame or humility and stay in this condition.

Bangladesh minority group disavows its leader’s comments in Trump meeting

An association of minorities in Bangladesh has refused to take responsibilities for allegations of persecution raised by one of its leaders in a meeting with US President Donald Trump.

Priya Saha, an organising secretary of the Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council, was among five Bangladeshis and two Rohingya refugees the US Embassy in Dhaka sent to the meeting with Trump at the White House in Washington, DC last Wednesday.

They also attended the second ministerial meeting on advancing religious freedom hosted by the US Department of State in the US capital.

After a video of the meeting where she alleged “disappearance of 37 million” people of the minority groups in Bangladesh went viral on social media, Rana Dasgupta, the head of the council of minorities, said her comments were “personal and not the statement of the organisation”

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam said the government will look into her motive behind the “false allegations”.

US Ambassador Earl Miller declined to comment on her statement, but said Bangladesh is an “example” of religious freedom for the world.

Speaking to bdnews24.com on Friday night, Rana said they had been unaware of Priya’s presence in the White House meeting with Trump and came to know about it through media reports earlier in the day.

She is one of the 11 organising secretaries of the organisation but was not among the three representatives it selected for the US tour, according to Rana.

The three are Ashok Barua and Nirmal Rozario, members of the organisation’s advisory council, and Joint General Secretary Nirmal Chatterjee, Rana said.

“We did not have any other representative,” the president of the organisation added.

“What she said there is her personal comment, not the organisation’s statement or decisions,” he clarified.

Rana Dasgupta also said they were waiting for her return, which is likely early on Saturday morning, to know about the issue.

When asked to clarify the “disappearance of 37 million”, as alleged by Priya, Rana said she would be in the best position to answer that question.

In the video, Priya is heard telling Trump: “Sir, I'm from Bangladesh. Thirty-seven million Hindus, Buddhists and Christians have disappeared. Please help us - for the Bangladeshi people. We want to stay in our country.”

There are still “18 million minority people” in Bangladesh, she said. “My request is, please help us, we don’t want to leave our country, just help us stay. I've lost my home, they've burned my home, they (have) taken away my land, but no judgment (has) yet taken please, please…”

Trump asked her, “Who took the land and home?”

“Muslim fundamentalist groups,” Priya replied.

“Always they're getting the political shelter, always,” she added.

State Minister Shahriar in a Facebook post “strongly condemned” the “false allegations” and said the government will look into these besides her motive.

Shahriar said he had faced many questions in different forums on human rights, including the full house of the UN Human Rights Council, but never faced any questions or allegations like the ones raised by Priya.

The US ambassador, when asked for his comments on the meeting during a visit to a Buddhist temple in Dhaka on Friday, said: “I am not here to make comment now (on the Trump meeting issue).”

“But I now have enough perspective after being here for eight months and travelling here so widely to recognise that Bangladesh is doing something remarkable,” he added.

The US ambassador visited the Buddhist temple as part of his visit to places of worship of all four major religions in Bangladesh.

He said he visited a mosque, a church and a Hindu temple in Barishal earlier.

Miller said in Bangladesh the “ability for different religious faiths and groups to respect one another no matter how you worship, no matter how you pray, no matter how you relate to your supreme divine being is an example for the world”.

The ambassador said every place he had visited he received the “same message be it from an imam, from a priest, from someone in a temple that no country can succeed unless we work together”.

“It’s a lesson my country can learn from…it’s a lesson the world can learn from,” he said.

Sampriti Bangladesh, an organisation that promotes secular ideals to close divides in society, said Priya’s comments were “tantamount to rejecting and neglecting the ideals of the Liberation War”.

In a statement, its President Pijush Bandyopadhyay and General Secretary Mamun Al Mahtab Swapnil, “strongly protested” against Priya’s “falsification”.

They said it was religious harmony that made it possible for the nation to achieve independence under Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s leadership.

His daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also proved that Bangladesh is a country for the people of all religions by firmly taming communal forces, the statement said.

“Sampriti Bangladesh hopes all the people will show respect to the everlasting secular ideals of the country,” it added.

This RSS linked Rana Das Gupta is lying. This woman could not proceeded this much without the tacit support of their organization. They sent 3 thugs by the front door and one thug through the back door. This rana Das Gupta know the significance of such allegation to Trump and how much it will create shit storm in Bangladesh. So they prepared well to save their skin aftermath.

Lol. You are talking as if Bangladesh is some super first world country. You guys are enjoying some growth so you guys are jumping up and down like monkeys yet you are being humiliated by India.

Your country is useless nation which has no say or sway at international level.

Talking about economic, yes we had problems and wars for last two decades yet you guys are still far behind us and lot of catching up to do.

Pakistan GDP PPP USD 1.195 trillion Per Capita $5839

Bangladesh GDP PPP USD 831 billion Per Capital $4992

Pakistan HDI 0.562 GINI 33.5

Bangladesh HDI 0.608 GINI 32.4

Military you guys are not even worth comparing. As I said we have been through two decades of war and you guys had nothing to worry and yet still you people have a lot of catching up to do.

As for Indian they are abusing you guys day and night, left and centre.

Keep having no shame or humility and stay in this condition.
