I read there is some kind of ceasefire, but past days I'm only reading about taliban being killed and taliban killing its enemies. So what's happening there?

I read there is some kind of ceasefire, but past days I'm only reading about taliban being killed and taliban killing its enemies. So what's happening there?

Last time when the negotiations were stopped ANA tried to take on Taliban alone but got their asses whopped until US forces arrived. So don't take it seriously and wait for confirmation.

And there is no ceasefire only both sides agreed to reduce the violence.

ok thanks for the explanation. I read also the US ambassador left Afghanistan and there is no replacement yet. I think taliban is now at its strongest point and ANA at its weakest point. What's your idea about the power of Taliban? can they make a push coming weeks/months and kill US soldiers?

The Americans are hiding in their fortress-like bases right now and basically do no more offensive actions. But rather train the corrupt ANA which is still useless even after all these years. I don't think the Taliban can do much damage to them without ballistic missiles, drones and artillery.

Afghanistan is a box full of opportunities to harm the US colonists. Many possible scenarios could be worked out with taliban and even other parties (and even let them become new government instead of the puppet government now)

Both sides are exhausted and are looking for an out. Talibans do have upper hand due to massive corruptions in both Govt. and ANA which has effectively tired out US.

Talibans may be in better position but they won't push their luck.

The Taliban need big guns/bombs to destroy the US bases. They also need to inflict more casualties on the Americans for them to leave.

The Soviets suffered much, much worse.

This might surprise you but Afghan Taliban rarely challenge/target American troops. They are mainly focused on defeating US-backed Afghan government but no side is winning.

US forces at the moment are just sitting in bases. They have stopped training ANA. They have stopped giving them equipment. Their fingers are always on triggers when they are with ANA because of ANA soldiers going to Taliban side. So they are very cautious.

. . .
They used to kill US soldiers in past but now only local soldiers are killed. In late 2000s and early 2010s they used to attack Americans but now fight is local soldiers vs Taliban

Very limited engagements.
