The government is going to buy 300 buses and trucks from India on credit from Indian Exim Bank for bolstering the transport fleet of state-run Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTC).
Finance Minister AMA Muhith came up with the disclosure to journalists at his secretariat Tuesday.
India has given no-objection clearance to 8 projects out of 20 at a cost of 100 crore US dollars financed by Indian Exim Bank, the minister said.
Asked how much money might be needed for the 300 buses and trucks, Mosharraf Hossain, secretary of Economic Relations Division (ERD), didnt answer.
Communications Minister Syed Abul Hossain and Dr Mashiur Rahman, Economic Affairs Adviser to the Prime Minister, were among others present at the press meet.
