Seems they are looking forward to the times in the future as the situation seems to be changing for the whole world and they think it's better to clear the ground first in order to grip hard the region gradually.

This is not a small presence in this small region

What an "achievement" if France maintains a "hard grip" on a region the size of Europe and populated by +80 million inhabitants with only 5.100 troops.

Just to give you a perspective,the distance between Bamako in Mali and N'djamena in Chad is greater than between Paris and Moscow.

Heheh +80 million unequipped ancient people even 50% of the current presence would suffice. The history teaches us that England never keeps more than a few thousands of the troops in the Indian subcontinent in the whole era 150 years of their occupation.

Barkhane strikes again..... From the 22nd and 23rd of may the Barkhane force conducted an operation in the Malian Gourma. The force engaged two Tigre helicopters against a group of terrorists moving in motorcycles before commandos were deployed to the area.

The next day,the Barkhane force conducted an air operation north of Burkina Faso near the Malian border against a large gathering of armed terrorist elements. A pair of Mirage 2000D was deployed in addition to the Reaper that was monitoring the gathering. As always,the French armed forces staff still refuses to give an accurate and exact assessment on the death toll suffered by terror armed groups...

Since the French forces concentrated their efforts in the three borders area of Mali,Niger and Burkina Faso,over 100 terrorists were neutralized each months over the last few months.... A heavy blow to the terror armed groups,unless they are able to regenerate their losses + terror groups fighting against each others.

It is not France vs several states and 80 mln people. It is French African forces vs some terrorists and insurgents. And I have to notice - terrorists and insurgents without serious backing from abroad.
