If Generals care about our soldiers and civilians on border areas and have any balls , They will launch an operation lile turkey did in Syria and make a buffer zone on Afghan Border by force occupying a region installing own regime there. Pakistan should raise a force similar to Balochistan Levies for Waziristan. It should employ average residents of Waziristan for it.

Pakistan should recruit 100 000 strong Levies force made up of only Pashtuns from North or South Waziristan and they should alongside army provide security in Waziristan. They should be locals so locals don’t have harsh views towards them and TTP think twice before attacking them.

These people should be hired on 10 year contracts and paid 3 Lacs a year. They should be hired on contracts with high pay of 3 Lacs a year so we don’t have to pay pensions after but the high pay makes up for the pension the fighters won’t get. Free education and Free healthcare should be ensured for their families (Free education provided by government schools and free health care by Sehat Card). Additionally for joining bonuses, each person who joins should be given a smartphone and laptop. Their family can use the laptop to positively impact their life.

The costs for such a force will be low and beneficial. The highest costs associated with soldiers are pensions so contract soldiers would be far cheaper even if paid more.
Also it’s less likely their family members will join ttp and it would provide employment in waziristan. Soldiers will expand their pay in their areas which will develop the region too.
In a generation, Waziristan will be the most pro pak place in Pakistan with this. This can also free up many soldiers to fight in eastern front.

It is fairly evident that fob's have little to no surveillance capabilities... QRF's run blind and are routinely ambushed. It is just derision of duty and/or plain ineptitude of higher ups in providing simple drones... that have so readily been proliferated, available for cheap and multi faceted... programed or built to suit.

That can not only save lives but create much needed deterrence. Lives lost in this day and age under these circumstances is nothing short of criminal!

But looking back at how recent events have turned out... I'm afraid callousness, apathy and mediocrity goes all the way up the chain. It stems from the institutions lack of purpose and reflects in lack of initiative.

100 000 fighters each with salary of 3 Lacs would be cheaper then 10 000 proper soldiers because for the proper soldiers you would have to pay pensions after and other expenses.
