NEW DELHI: Defence minister A K Antony on Friday announced that the Centre has withdrawn around 30,000 troops from Jammu and Kashmir.

A K Antony said two Army divisions comprising around 30,000 troops have been moved out of Kashmir in the wake of improvement in the security situation there.

Addressing reporters Antony said, "Two Army divisions comprising around 30,000 troops have been moved out of Kashmir due to improvement in the situation there."

"Whenever we feel the situation has improved or is improving we will further reduce the visibility and presence of the Army in the state... it is because of the presence of the army that we have been able to counter terrorism in the state," Antony added.

The Army has begun withdrawing troops from the Rajouri and Poonch districts of Jammu and Kashmir in a move seen as a confidence building measure to get Kashmiri separatists, especially the hardliners, on board for talks.

The twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch were brought under the Disturbed Area Act along with the Kashmir Valley in July 1990 and the security forces were given special powers under Armed Forces Special Powers Act around the same time.

The two districts have a 200 km Line of Control with Pakistan-administered Kashmir.

Antony made the announcement just days after home minister P Chidambaram informed the Parliament, that troop reduction in Jammu and Kashmir was on the cards considering improvement in the overall security situation in the northern state.

Reacting to the Chidambaram's statement, former state chief minister and union minister for new and renewable sources of energy Farooq Abdullah had said that the home minister had finally given good news to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

"Reduction in the number of troops deployed in the state would definitely ease the tensions here and herald the beginning of peace and development in the state," Abdullah had said.

illegal occupation is never welcomed in the world.

 for india's move on this, now the next step should be withdraw all its troops from Kashmir and hand over all illegally occupied land to Pak.

We will think about that after you hand over Tibet to us and his Holiness the Dalai Lama

Your government has already joined other 180+ nations to acknowledge the fact that Tibet is a part of China. As exchange, my government agreed to acknowledge that Sikkim is now a part of india.

For the above detailed reasons, you no longer have the Tibet card on hand.

Please also be advised that our economy and military strength are both much stronger than yours, it is not in india/indian's interests to challenge us in such matters -- especially when we have the agreement in black and white.

Since you are such a renowned spokesperson and policymaker for the Chinese Government why don't you just bring in your troops and tanks and "liberate" the people of Kashmir instead of sitting at your keyboard and posting spoof on the internet? I would say that it is about time that those soldiers were used against something apart from the masses of China now wouldnt you ? :pop:

could you please stick on the topic of this thread? this is the last warning, I would report any further abusive or off topic posts.

now back to the topic of this thread, india withdraw troops from the area clearly shows india can no longer afford to have multiple front lines, you simply can't confront both Pakistan and China while also fighting Maoist at home.

again, this is another failure of the regime in new delhi.

wtf. Can't you resist saying that in all your post. You will never attack and you won't even think about it for at east 30 years.

we will, for several reasons:

1. we need to ensure our PLA has some proper real experience on warfare.
2. our last military conflict was with Vietnam 31 years ago. it is rare in our history that we did not have any war in 30 years.
3. there are many dispute between indian and China.
4. india currently refuse to resolve these issues with talks.
5. india's recent movement in the border area shows it is seeking a war.

:rofl: the biggest troll a crybaby now huh. You moved off topic by discussing various unrelated issues. No failure of New Delhi. Purely a move to reassure Kashmiris that as Indians they would be given the same status as other Indian states. I would however not go on to enlighten you as your mindset relating to India seems to be squashed in the gutter already. I suggest that you stick to issues relating to China as you embarass yourself otherwise

Problem with PLA is that if they move out of China to invade another country then the masses will rise up in China and overthrow the government. Kinda catch 22 situation you got there I would say :china:

:smokin: we only need to about 100,000 troops to capture new delhi.

.
And what about your economy. How can you maintain you economy once you are at war. You are still a developing economy, not a developed one

:smokin: we only need to about 100,000 troops to capture new delhi.

Perhaps on Pakistan Defence Forum you do but in reality you will need to do better than that. Recall when you sent in 200 000 troops into Vietnam and they came back running to Beijing saying that they met the Devil after 70 000 Vietnamese civilians and soldiers sent them packing? Well we have a big army with big guns and lots of starving people who wouldn't mind eating Chinese takeouts for a few months :azn:

1. You wish a war for gaining "real" experience!! :hitwall:
2. This also means India and China are not enemy. Imroving business ties also indicated towards this. There are differences but war, no way.
3. India is not refusing for talks. There is already a mechanism in place for this. Talks are also underway.

Border talks: China, India must live in peace

5. Please let us know (in relevant thread) what steps India has taken aling Indo-China border for starting a war.

Now at topic:
This seems a part of India back channel diplomacy with separatist in JnK region. Also Umar Abdullah has fought for this move with center. This particular decision has been taken for soothing the hard line segments of the Kashmiri leadership. And this has nothing to do with China.:blah:
