JAISALMER: Rajasthan has three of the 14 strategic railway lines that have been identified in the country for development on a priority basis. The railway lines have been declared strategic from an operational and logistics perspective for the Army.

The three lines identified in the state included the Jodhpur-Jaisalmer double line, the Anupgarh-Chattargarh-Motigarh-Bikaner line and a new line in Jaisalmer district which connects Jodhpur, Angolai, Shergarh and Phalsund.


"Defence minister A K Antony in a written reply to Barmer-Jaislamer MP Harish Chaudhary in Lok Sabha said the comprehensive capability development plan pertaining to strategic railway lines in the country, including those in the Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and North-East states has been drawn up by the Services based on the inputs from the operational commands and validated from an operational and logistics perspective," defence spokesperson Col S D Goswami said.

He said double lining of Jodhpur-Jaisalmer line has been proposed as one of the 14 strategic railway lines. Survey of the said line has been completed and two new tracks of Jodhpur-Angolai-Shergarh-Phalsund (of Jaisalmer District) and Anupgarh-CHattargarh-Motigarh-Bikaner in Rajasthan will prove significant for the Army in Rajasthan, Goswami added.

It will most probably be for the Armour and troop movement. Agni-5 will be road mobile and so will be 6.

Hey but hurt, we don't execute our plans in timely manner but at least we execute them ,overshooting the deadline shouldn't be matter of that much concern as long as quality is not being compromised like Chinese bridges collapsing with in years of completion.But I would like to inform you our Metro Network is working ahead of schedule.Konkan railway completes her project either on time or before time.

It' none of your concern if our country have plans, plans and more plans and only plans instead you shouldn' bother even to lurk in India shining threads for they are only farce, why are you wasteing your precious time.

At least whatever is our country we are proud of her and unlike you don't take refuge behind foreign flags.

the line is also important from another point of view that western railway line from New Delhi to Mumbai (via Mathura Kota vadodra) is operating way over its saturation point. The alternate route through Ahemdabad Udaipur to Old delhi is a Single line in lot of locations. If the new line can be used to move some of freight tarffic (in addition to upcoming DFC West), the trunk line can be freed for passenger operations.
Also we must not forget that a lot of freight traffic originationg from ports of Kandla can be diverted trhough this line to container depots near Tughlakabad (near Delhi).
The line may be constructed for its strategic importance but it will have huge economic benefeits as well.
