2nd Boeing P-8I aircraft for India completes 1st flight

SEATTLE, July 17, 2012 -- The second Boeing [NYSE: BA] P-8I aircraft for the Indian Navy completed its initial flight on July 12, taking off from Renton Field at 3:29 p.m. and landing two hours and 14 minutes later at Boeing Field in Seattle. The P-8I, a derivative of the Boeing Next-Generation 737-800 commercial airplane, is the second of eight long-range maritime reconnaissance and anti-submarine warfare aircraft Boeing is building for India.

"The program is on plan and the Indian Navy is excited for the P-8I to join its fleet," said Leland Wight, P-8I program manager for Boeing.

During the flight, Boeing test pilots performed airborne systems checks and took the P-8I to a maximum altitude of 41,000 feet prior to landing. Boeing will begin mission systems installation and checkout work on the aircraft in the coming weeks.

My salute to the Men and Women of the IN.They are doing a remarkable job and i hope the Army learns a thing or two on planning and induction from them.

I think it has a lot to do with size of Army, it is getting bogged down by the politics people can play..

Got to love the Amreekans for their professional work culture, no wonder they are and will continue to be in the pinnacle of technology and professionality. :usflag:

that is because America is not socialist when it comes to working. We believe that result is the ultimate measurement, not BS.

India should buy more from America. We provide the best technology. And also, there is no need for modification as we have the best. Finally, we would not take your money for TOT. Those guys giving you TOT for part of their system are just ripping you off. Can't do jack with a partial TOT. Is the French going to share with you the whole detail experience of designing engine for Rafael so you can redesign it from scratch and improve upon it? Get real.
