Jammu, July 3: After winning three Lok Sabha seats in Jammu and Ladakh, BJP is working on Mission 44+ in Jammu and Kashmir and at least 22 Union Ministers and senior party leaders will visit the State ahead of Assembly elections, scheduled to be held later this year.
“The visit of union ministers and BJP leaders to the State would start from July 25,” State BJP president and MP from Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha seat, Jugal Kishore Sharma told reporters here.
He said the decision to send union ministers and party leaders to the State was taken at a high level meeting of BJP leaders in Delhi, which was chaired by Rajnath Singh.
36 Union Ministers and State BJP leaders, according to Kishore, were present in the meeting. Bali Bhagat was nominated by the central leaders as coordinator to coordinate with Union Minister and national BJP leaders.
“The union ministers and party leaders will visit the winnable constituencies and listen to problems and demands of the people,” he said adding BJP led-NDA government in Delhi will take concrete measures to ensure all-round development of Jammu province, Kashmir and Ladakh.
“Unlike Congress and NC, the approach of BJP is state-centric and inclusive,” Kishore said.
He said he alongwith Bali Bhagat met Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani, Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and Railway Minister D V Sadananda Gowda and discussed issues of the State with them.
“We have appealed Irani to sanction Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) for Jammu,” he said.
Sources said BJP’s State and central leaders held a detailed discussion on how to achieve set target of 44 plus seats in Assembly elections.
“People were supporting BJP policies. We have prepared a list of assembly constituencies which can easily be won by BJP candidates in coming assembly elections,” a senior BJP leader said.
He said the party has succeeded in garnering support for candidates in Pir Panjal and Chenab Valley.
“We are hopeful to increase our tally of 11 in 2008 polls by a big margin in this election,” the BJP leader said.
