IHK women worst victims of Indian state terrorism | Kashmir Media Service
Islamabad, March 08 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the women have been the worst victims of Indian state terrorism during the past 20 years.This has been stated in a report released by the researc section of Kashmir Media Service on the International Women's Day.
The report reveals that thousands of women are among 92,743 civilians, martyred by Indian troops since January 1989 till March 2009. 580 women have been killed by the troops alone during the January 2001 till date. Since January 1989 the state terrorism has rendered 22,687 women widowed and 9854 have been molested by the occupation troops.
Thousands of women suffered the loss of their sons, husbands and brothers in the occupied territory who got disappeared in the custody of the occupation forces. As per the Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons, more than ten thousand Kashmiri people went missing during the past twenty years. The report further maintains that majority of the Kashmiris suffering from multiple psychic problems is of women.
In Srinagar, several women protesters were injured and five of them arrested, when Indian troops subjected a procession to brute force at Maulana Azad Road, today. Organised on the occasion of the International Womens Day, the procession was prevented by the troops to proceed towards the United Nations Observers Office.
