2016 on PDF

Fenrir...really?

It's short, easy and represents one of my favorite animals. Alongside bears.

I'd also have accepted Hróðvitnir:lol:. But ultimately picked a name that's recognizable and easy for most on PDF to write, while still representing Norse culture.

Fenrir is more common in popular culture then is Óðr, and being a mod I do need to be recognized more easily in case anyone needs me for something.

Its been a few years since I read up on Norse mythology but wasn't Fenrir supposed to make mince meat of Odin on Ragnarok? :o:

And did, sending the Old God to his death, only to then be killed by Víðarr.

Wouldn't Odr be more apt as the significant other of Freyja? :azn:

Sure that'd be more apt, but I'd never use the more modern version of Óðr. I'm a traditionalist.

Or was that Freyr....its been a while.:undecided:

No you're right. It's Óðr. Freyr is Freyja's twin brother.

My Freyja has an older brother, but it's best not to talk or ask about that.

Just out of curiosity what the heck would I be doing when all of this is happening? :undecided:

You aren't a traditionalist....you eat McDonalds for breakfast for heaven sake instead of blood pudding like a real Viking. :tsk:

Grab your axe and join the battle? When the end of days doth cometh, you have but two choices. Join your brothers and sisters on the field of battle and find eternal glory.

But Armstrong McDonalds does serve traditional Norwegian breakfasts.

Yup, pancakes are a traditional way to start a Norwegian day. Sugar is optional.

Implying Swedes are real Vikingso_O. Blodpalt is a Swedish thing (Finnish too, but they weren't a Viking nation). We Norgies never took to it. Norway does have its own palt recipes such at Raspeball, but they don't include animal blood.

PDF shaved off the pretense that it was a neutral defense forum in 2016 as far as India is concerned which in my view is a good thing. anybody now can make mock or make fun of Hinduism, India and Indians. This is a good thing! Real intentions need to be open like it is now.

@Fenrir Congrats., on your new name. It was the second most flippin difficult name to write other than Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllan that I have come across. What did that "technogan blah blah" mean anyway? Was it a word or did you just come out with a tongue twister?

Lucky for you "Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn" wasn't short enough:D.

Technogaianist is a reference to Technogaianism, or one who practices it. Technogaianism is the philosophy of using extreme technological advances to better humanity, such as genetic engineering, terraforming or the use of solely renewable resources. It fits with Norway's overall national goals as well as some of my personal beliefs and professional dealings.

I agree that is was a bit long, but that was never an inconvenience for me. People tagged me less when they couldn't remember or spell my name:lol:.

Nei. Elsa's not even a real Norwegian name:angry:!! Emma, Sophie, Ella, Karie, Anne, those are the most popular name 'round here. My name's pretty uncommon, but it's unique:happy:.

Besides, every time I think of Elsa this pops into my mind:o:!!

And a real one too. It's a town in Wales.

It has an even longer alternate name of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.

Blood and scars always made better makeup anyway:wub:.

Elsa's hair is traditional though. Many women in Norway have braids like that.

Minus the spice that's a pretty normal breakfast. We like to eat pancakes and potatoes too!!

I prefer butter and syrup myself. I'm not awake enough in the morning to try a gauntlet of spice.

Spicy things in general are pretty foreign to traditional Norwegian foods, so you guys spicing everything up is kind of weird to us.

Then again we use industrial chemicals to ferment fish, so who are we to point fingers:wacko:?

lutesfisk+003.JPG

I would like to be on record as saying I absolutely hate Lutefisk:bad:. I've eaten some nasty foods including sheep's head, blood pudding and some other bunk, but Lutefisk and Surstromming are the worst by far. Basically semi-edible chemical weapons.

If you are going to war :-//

We're Vikings. We know trade and we know plunder. You choose, but we're always at war with something, typically hygiene.

Yes, fine idea. Perhaps this is the natural progression of peoplekind (made that up to be PC) to reach higher level of civilization. There are few issues that I want to discuss about this when I get time. I certainly think this is a new form of religion that takes up from where traditional religion has ran out of answers for complexities that life throws up.

Lot of the Polish girls have their hair done in braids in my neck of the woods. Very attractive.

It's nice to limit yourself to the nice ones.

And for the not so nice ones, read, learn, be amazed, and go .... interesting.
