Thanks for showing your concern. We are very well aware that our enemy lacks guts to fight us face-to-face and will resort to coward attacks against India. And now, we know how to deal with this chakka terrorist army. Wait and watch.

Till then, don't get too excited.

Australian players clash at meeting

Lalit Modi has insisted that the IPL will not be moved out of India, despite security concerns raised in an independent report commissioned by the players' unions in England, Australia and South Africa that led to talk of shifting the event to another country.

"We are going to have the tournament in India. I can't see any reason why we should move it at this point in time. The media is reacting to every fringe group saying security is a problem," Modi told BBC Sport in reaction to the concerns.

The Australian reported the security discussions caused a split between high profile freelance players and Ricky Ponting when the situation was outlined at an Australian Cricketers' Association meeting in Sydney on Tuesday. The paper said Shane Warne, Matthew Hayden and Adam Gilchrist, who have supported each IPL tournament, clashed with Ricky Ponting over the way forward.

Cricket Australia-contracted players want to follow the ACA's advice while Warne and Hayden, a Cricket Australia board member, have said they want to go. If players pull out of the tournament they could be banned from future IPL editions, a decision which would cost some of them millions of dollars.

The report, written by the England team's security advisor Reg Dickason, said there was a credible threat to the tournament from terrorist groups, raising questions over player safety apart from talk of a boycott by international cricketers. The Australian Cricketers' Association has decided to formulate a list of security demands for IPL organisers, following a meeting attended by most Australian players slated to play in the tournament.

"The process from here is for all players associated to meet with their player groups and for all of us to feed back the concerns raised from these meetings to the IPL," Paul Marsh, the ACA's chief executive said. "This will be coordinated through our peak body the Federation of International Cricketers' Associations. From here we will await a response from the IPL."

Heath Mills, the New Zealand Players' Association chief, also outlined security concerns. "It's one thing to have a security management plan, it's a much different thing to see it delivered and delivered well. It's quite complex when you consider the IPL is played across 12 cities, 12 police jurisdictions throughout India. There are some real concerns around that aspect," Mills said.

Modi, however, underplayed their concerns. "Nobody in the world can safeguard the safety of the players in any tournament. All we have to do is ensure we are putting on the best security," Modi said. "Safety is paramount to us and we are working with the national and state governments to ensure we have good security in place.

"At the end of the day we have to ensure the safety plans we put in place and the way we conduct them are absolutely top-notch."

Modi also said that he was not overly concerned by the possibility of overseas players withdrawing from the event. "The heavens aren't going to fall if that happens. This is an Indian tournament; we have the key Indian players and only a few international players."

"We have no worries at all. You have to understand that the market for us is India. "The tournament is a huge success - we have a huge credibility, we have the top 200 players in the world. It's not only dependent on foreign players, although they are part of it, Modi said.

Though I utterly disagree and oppose any accusition by Australians against the security offered by us, I would NOT blame them either bcoz one need to "feel" confident by looking at our police system; even I personally feel sorry for our police system. Like I been saying from the day I joined this forum, Our Police, Fireforce etc and security apparatus and related infrastructures need reform badly, and our government failed to do that even a year after 26/11.

But to the Australians: keep the racial attack out of this, if this issue u r fuming has anything to do with that :smokin:. India is not a banana country to sit there and take terrorist activities on its soil, they cant fool us twice!:butcher:

yeah hope so Sir jee,,

I guess Aussies are only worried due to Bal Thakery...... rest is fine

i don't think there are many security concerns there in India..... they are most probably worried due to Thakery type politicians

Your jokes in this thread crack me. India has money and muscle power which is the difference between India and Pakistan.

IPL is a Domestic tournament.
WC is world tournament which requires money to survive and guarantee players positions in IPL.

Pak team face security concerns in India

Updated at: 1151 PST, Wednesday, February 24, 2010
Pak team face security concerns in India KARACHI: The management of Pakistan’s hockey team voiced concerns over the security situation in Hockey World Cup in Delhi, Geo News reported Wednesday.

According to sources, Pak hockey team’s manager Asif Bajwa will request the Organising Committee in tomorrow’s meeting to ramp up the security of Pakistani team.

According to sources, the team was given high-level security; but, only two vehicles accompany the team in passage to the ground and back to their hotel.

The traffic is not held up for the bus carrying Pakistani players; so, the bus has to pull up at signals.

It should be mentioned that stones were pelted at Pakistani team bus during 1989 Asia Cup in India.

Hope the situation improves and we see sports flourishing in sub-continent.

Meanwhile security risks are involved in coming Common Wealth games with al-Qaeda threatend to attack.

Keeping in view the Mumbai attacks, Puna blast and recent threats, its important to keep all options open to adopt

As for Pakistani players's security, they themselves seems comfortable.

India is safe, says Pak manager on arrival- Hindustan Times

“We are the first to have expressed satisfaction to the security arrangements of the Indian government, of the Delhi Police and of the Indian federation (Hockey India),” Bajwa, who is also the secretary of the Pakistan Hockey Federation, said.

“India is a safe place for the World Cup. Terrorism is a global issue not specific to India and Pakistan. It should be seen in a global perspective,” he said of the terrorist threats.

As Australian players are concerned, Bal Thakrey has already said they won't come between matches.

Bal Thackeray withdraws Aussie cricket ban | Sports Info Magazine

Shiv Sena leader Bal Thackeray said they had dropped their opposition as “Indian brothers living in Australia asked us to lift the ban as it would magnify their problems,” he said in a statement issued late on Tuesday.

Lastly I would like to thank Australian players. By making such unnecessary ho-ha, they have made sure that GoI takes fool proof action on security.
Now this is something real bad news for terrorists and their supporters.

FYI..
Pakistan Hockey team reached Delhi without any trouble. Whether traffic stopped or not for their Bus they reached Delhi safely that is what matters.

Let me assure you Pakistan Hockey team will be as safe in India as the Hockey team of India.

You have to understand India is not Pakistan. You will not see any incident where an explosive laden vehicle colliding into a security force post or vehicle.

the news u r sharing is old........ the news i shared above is published only couple of minutes ago

zaki there are threats to foreign players in India no doubt.

think instead of getting emotional it will better to consider all options by Indians. Because any attack even a botched one on foreign players or venue of Common Wealth Games and Circket world Cup can ruin sports there for a long time to come.
