20 Arrested In 48 Hours For Failing To Stand For Anthem In Cinemas !

I can understand that it is unethical to not stand up for a national anthem? But arresting people? This is something you'd see in a fascist country. I don't think any other country, especially a democratic one would do anything like this.

India is becoming more and more chauvinistic. One day it will become the RSS republic of India.

Yeah, Godwin's law achieved! Yay! Coming from citizen of a country that has carried out genocides in 1947, 1971 and more recently, in Balochistan, that's surely an achievement.

Immature response.

Without derailing the topic, your country got all signs of Nazi Germany, they way it is behaving. Lot of similarities.

I have question to Indian brothers, what if some people are too old, sugar patients or Have some problems , also having nachos, French friezes pizza on hand, how they stand.
If you are medically unfit, then you are exempted from standing up while national anthem is being played as per supreme Court ruling. It is only for those who claim personal freedom rights which they say is higher than their responsibility towards the national.

Let's concentrate on beef and more recently, national anthem.
After all, rape, murders, corruption, nepotism etc etc have all been solved and eradicated long back.

India is becoming more like a country of Tyranny of the majority than a democracy.
The essense of democracy is that what majority of the people decide and vote for that are the policies implemented

Not really.

In democracies u listen to everybody. And make policies taking care of everyone. Equity is also part of democracy where you guve some extra to weaker section. To make them at par.

Its not as if majority decide to kill all remaining one so lets do it.

Democracy is misinterpreted by our people.

Lol no disagree. If that was the case then we would have been a Hindu country. Views of our minority communities like Muslims, Christians are also important. Laws are implemented keeping all communities in mind

You may also want to take the concept of "minority rights" into consideration with so called "majority rule". Otherwise, your may end up with a "democracy" that is not different from that of Nazi Germany.

I don't think it's a matter of legality as much as it's of propriety. It's not an offence, there is no act which says you must stand," said senior advocate Iqbal Chagla. The only law that weighs in on behaviour during the national anthem is Section 3 of The Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971, stating, "Whoever intentionally prevents the singing of the Indian National Anthem or causes disturbances to any assembly engaged in such singing shall be punished with imprisonment for a term, which may extend to three years, or with fine, or with both." It makes no mention of a mandate to stand during the national anthem

We all agree that a national flag or anthem should be respected. Where do you draw the line if someone disrespects??
There are already laws in the books but is rarely enforced.
