2 Russian pilots killed as ISIS shoots down chopper near Palmyra – MoD

The aircraft flies forward. If the rocket does not ignite, it would be stationary in the air and flying backwards relative to the aircraft. As a Jew, Einstein would be ashamed of your IQ. Relativity. Remember.

Ocean water and river water look the same. Completely different. Try drinking them.

If this is a Mi-35M, which the fixed landing gear and short winglets suggest, the implication is that it is flown operationally in combat by Russians.

Not necessarily. SAA has been known to operate T-90 tanks leased from Russians.

China is smart not to get involved but they should get 'involved'. Maybe not in the sense of full on invasion or involvement but China should be cashing in on flying their drones covertly and getting some drone/military experience in. Meanwhile bombing some ISIS never hurts either. Just don't bomb the dams, electrical grids or poison the water system and you should be alright :P

Yes china should test their shinny drones in that part of the world.
While we are at that india should test there tejas.
And whoever other wants can test their weapons n this god forbidden part of earth, Very good !

On Friday, July 8th, militants of the Islamic State terrorist group downed the Mi-35M helicopter of the aerospace forces of the Russian Federation.

The helicopter was on a combat mission near Palmyra. Two pilots - Colonel Ryafagat Habibullin and Lt. Yevgeny Dolgin were killed in the crash.

Around 40 Mi-24s were delivered to the SyAAF and survivors were overhauled and upgraded in Eastern Europe in the last four years. These were augmented by at least 13 Mi-25s that were delivered in 2008.

I suspect that for a pilot or WSO, it is not a direct switch from Mi-24/25 to Mi-35M...

These cannot get near enough in the desert to shoot at a Mi-35M. It was a friendly fire or an ammo malfunction IMO.

Mi-35 is export designation of Mi-24V. Mi-35M is upgraded from Mi-35. Only Mi-35M has unretractable undercarriage.

That IS what I posted in post #51 and post #48. So, what point are you trying to make? That I initially didn't include the Mi-35 in the cockpit comparison? :rolleyes1:
